Best Soundtrack Person

[Elvis]

All the choices in the OP are mainstream and established. Very talented/many great songs but I prefer the newer generation so to speak.

Johnny Greenwood (Radiohead) - There will be Blood
Nick Cave and Warren Ellis - The Assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford

[Linliel]

Bear McCreary!

This!
Also Ennio Morricone, and Klaus Badelt is great too, he really did an awesome soundtrack to Pirates of the Caribbean

[Elesirdur]

As a personal favourite I would have to say Clint Mansell. His music and scoring emphasizes the very powerful themes and visuals of some very powerful movies. The Fountain soundtrack is one of the most hauntingly moving albums I've ever heard.

For larger bodies of work I'll vote for John Williams. Though I think in recent years he has been eclipsed by Howard Shore who's work in most of David Cronenberg's filmography and especially the Lord of the Rings soundtracks has been phenomenal. Scoring Jackson's LotR productions will likely be his magnum opus, but I'm hoping for more great things from Howard Shore in the future.

I just really don't care much for Danny Elfman's work because the all sound the same. I know that's a gross overstatement, but I almost feel like you could swap the scores of two of his movies and come out with the same experience.

Philip Glass.

[Howard Roark]

You left off Clint Mansell, so fuck you.

PI
Requiem for a Dream
The Fountain

And much more.

my first response was "fkng none of them"

but yes, mansell is the man

[Fhloston]

None of the above.

Eric Serra is my personal choice. He did the soundtracks for the Fifth Element and Léon. I also am a fan of Hans Zimmer's work though.

Also will mention Yoko Kanno. She does amazing work for a lot of anime series and their movies. Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, Escaflowne, Macross, to name a few.

[Dimmauk]

Danger Zone > Everything.

[Serif]

Clint Mansell is easily my favorite that I know of.

Oh and who ever did the Man on Fire Soundtrack.

[Olo401]

I'm just damned glad no one thought of John Tesh.

[deshende]

I vote for James Horner.

[Indalecia]

Whoever did LotR, which i think is Mansell.

Second place to williams

[Moosey]

Howard Shore(LOTR)
Michael Giacchino(LOST)
Tyler Bates(300)

These guys are pretty good too.

This poll is lacking variety.

[Enkidu]

Voted Williams. There are tons of great composers out there now, but I think most draw a lot from Williams' work.

[Ragnell]

Harry Gregson-Williams
