finally started last night and so far this game seems very unpolished. So far the AI scripting is horrible. I constantly see geckos running into rocks and the humans basically just randomly duck and dodge from wherever they happen to be standing when they see me. I've repeatedly run into times when my arms and gun would randomly shift up half the screen's height for half a second. I can't count the number of times i've seen mobs stuck where the load onto the map. Initial reactions to the crafting system: confusing as hell. Why on earth are there so many different components to making a gun? It may not be gun parts, it could be ammo parts. i really can't tell at this point. And I love how i was basically forced into being loved by Goodsprings and hated by the local gang simply because i happen to be upon a couple of them who attacked me... and i defended myself which made me shunned by them. So many of these design choices are questoinable.

Probably the only reason i like it so far is because of the elements from 3 that survived Obsidian's slaughterhouse. Its still fun and i fully intend to play it out but i cannot imagine what happened to the testing phase of this game.

Don't you guys feel its completely outrageous to hold these bug/glitch expectations given the incalculable amount of content? Wouldn't it take an infinite to polish something of this magnitude?

Bioware/Black Isle Studios didn't seem to have much trouble keeping all their Forgotten Realms games from being massive clusterfucks of bugs, and all of those games were gigantic. Even Fallout 1/2 didn't suffer massive problems.

The core problem I'd say for New Vegas is the underlying engine, which is flawed to begin with as we've all seen time and time again with Oblivion, and furthermore with FO3.

The Infinity Engine games weren't quite as bad(still pretty buggy though), but I know the pre-patched Fallout games had some serious problems.
Thankfully I've been pretty lucky with NV, only a few glitches and one crash that lost me 5 minutes of game play and half of that was walking out of the first town.

My character constantly dropping their arms, arms going up while searching items, pip boy not showing up while activating it, dropping the weapon aim completely, shits really annoying. Never had these problems in Fallout 3, funny how they took an engine fully intact and managed to make it worse.

I wouldn't mind a few missing textures or weird looking NPCs, but we're talking a significant amount of freezes/crashes and bugs that either make the game unplayable or in the worst cases, corrupting save files so they can't be loaded. A few graphical glitches here and there aren't a big deal, but it's a big problem when you release a game that is barely stable and requires saving on a near-constant basis.

I must be the luckiest person playing this game because I've only had 1 very minor glitch with a npc getting stuck in a roof, other than that there hasn't been any bugs for me. Fallout 3 on the otherhand, freezes every 10-15 minutes ever since I downloaded Point Lookout.

unfortunately this isn't an excuse to go easy on the bug testing phase of development. something like where i do events/actions A-G, in the order G, B, C, E, A, D and that produces bug X is different from the shit we are seeing from obsidian, like save issues and game freezing and my FUCKING ARMS IN THE AIR LIKE I JUST DON'T CARE!

and i've only had that last part happen to me, latest 360 patch must be working *knocks on wood*.

Been hesitant to install any of the updates on PC (TPB has them from SkidRow) because I've been hearing people having a lot more issues with them than without.

The only things I've run into were the Davidson attacking you after finding out what happened to the Shipment he wanted and trying to talk to him. The other in RepConn HQ where the guards give me 2 warnings but attack me, even though it's during visitor hours AND having registered facial data.

Anyways, hit NV on my main but remade a char focusing more on CHR/INT and Speech/Science/Guns. Idk, I hit Freeside and I kind of got bored with the game. It's like I was given too many things to do I didn't particularly care about. I just sort of got bored and wished I put more focus into Speech.

Odd question, but in Vegas does anyone else have, like, a white fog? There seems to be a mist everywhere in town and it's a little annoying. I thought my color temperature got changed or something.

Have you tried going into 3rd person mode? There's some instances where modding your weapon can cause an enormous exclamation point to show around your character, which makes it hard to see because your character is essentially in the middle of the block.

Nah, it's not like that. It's seems fine indoors (Not int he Casinos, though) and in NW/Freeside but not outside in the Mojave Wasteland. Might just be because there's so many light sources, they kind of bloom it out or whatever.

I played F3 on PC, dunno if its different, but bodies stay around for forever no matter what you killed them with.

Very happy I didn't buy this game and rather played my friends copy. After 2 hours, (not long enough to judge completely I know) I was completely bored with this game. There are still glitches everywhere, the audio is shoddy, muddy graphics. After somebody says a sentence, you hear the audio get cut instead of transitioning smoothly to the next thing they are going to say. Nitpicking? maybe. Sloppy work? Definitely. I found no motivation to keep going with the story, or do anything for that matter. I don't know if I'm just tired of the particular engine, but to me it seems FO3 still looks better. I loved most of every minute of 3, this just felt like a way to cash in on the series. Even after the patch, it still feels like this could have been in development another 6 months to add polish.

I do admit some things feel unpolished. The deeper Ive gone the more I've felt that. I'm pretty thorough and and explore everything, but I feel they places some things and objectives a little out of the way. Like one's more likely to go from A to C and completely miss B, are told to go from A to B but ending up finding D or E (Come Fly with Me), or they don't give you too much information on what your options are (NCR at Primm). I was lost on a couple objectives or at least unsure of the situation so I poked around for more but was unable to find anything.

Also frag mines are my worst nemesis on Hardcore. Always seem to permanently have a limb fucked up. I do like everything hardcore brings and all the adjustments they made to the game itself but I can't help but feel like the game's not trying hard enough to keep my attention or explain some shit.

Are console commands the same as in FO3? Barring item IDs and such, ofc.

PS3 version and I've had a couple of crashes and some minor AI glitch but nothing that's ruined my experience so far, nothing more than I saw with FO3 GOY Edition. Going with cheap 360 and PC users that didn't upgrade their Wal-Mart boxes bitching about dumb shit. I'd hazard y'all stop being poor and you might be able to game properly.

I havent had any game breaking crashes yet. I do enjoy the story though(imo its better than FO3), it really redeems some of the boringness of the game.
