2 full minutes, wtf?
mine, on PS3, not installed, takes like... up to 30 seconds on a lot of areas. but that's nothing compared to 2 minutes.
Her personal quest totally screwed up my NCR fame anyways.
/sigh, I just restarted due to many quests being glitched out and Victor being unable to take my back up to my room in the Lucky 38. Theres a good 90 hours lost.
You know I'd be inclined to agree with you as that's what kept me so glued to FO3 was the intensity of crawling through subway tunnels and massive buildings not knowing what the shit was around the corner or how I was gonna make it with a broken arm and 7 bullets left, but I think NV did a good job of translating the survivalist tension of its predecessor into the political tension we experience in this chapter. Having so many factions and soooooooooo many ways to handle situations really makes for great drama forcing you to really sit there and calculate your next move in the same manner as deciding what your next move is gonna be when a Master Mutant is right around the corner and heard your footsteps.
Also being forced to make leveling choices without having access to bobbleheads or as many permanent skill books / perks to max out as much as possible adds to the stress ( in a good way ). I have a max science / repair guy now so my choices to work with Mr. House have paid off dearly so far, and no matter what I do for him I can still double-cross him at any time and control his robot army. Shits great.
I feel the opposite. I'm glad I don't have to run around subway tunnels, and I like adventuring out in the open versus tightly closed dungeon a lot more. To each his own I suppose.
There also seem to be overall a bigger number of quests in this one, though most of them are not as long as the ones in FO3.
Yep definitely agree, the greater "Stress" imposed on the player to focus on certain skills was very well-tuned, as opposed to FO3 where you could max out intelligence, get the Educated and Comprehension perks (with little to no penalty to your overall build), and get 100 with every skill. Factions were a good addition and add immense replay value which is another plus. I'm still on the fence on how I feel about quests though... A small amount of very long quests in FO3 versus an overwhelming amount of (mostly) short quests. I felt like I was going on an adventure when doing quests in FO3 while some of the New Vegas quests were chores, though I would attribute that myself catering to certain factions.
Admittedly, I'm going to be a biased douche because I didn't get my fucking Deathclaw gauntlets or any other badass fist weapons.
Any word on how to access Legate's camp on the other side of the Hoover Dam? Can it only be accessed at the end of the game?
I really wanted to love this game, I did. Turns out I really just kind of like it, at best I don't hate it. It has actually become a lot more fun now that I am rolling around with about 500,000 caps. >.>
I will say that I am happy that I grabbed it from Gamefly though and instead purchased a few other games that I knew for a fact I would enjoy. I understand where the reviews are coming from when they say it is a great game, but more of the same and if you were bored by the final 2/3rds of FO3 then you would be with this even sooner. Personally that holds true. I feel like the game is just so much emptier. I don't need subways crawling with ghouls, but I feel like I don't see ANYONE out in the desert. A few Golden Lizards or whatever, and then nothing for the next 20 minutes until i get to a town/settlement.
As far as glitches go (I am on PS3) I have had the game freeze on me only twice in 13 levels and that was it. Other than that, longer load times when Fast Traveling huge distances, I really haven't seen anything game breaking. Well ok, the infinite caps is game breaking but that is by choice.
Is anyone else getting massively long loading times after you've played for a couple hours? I'm loving Lucky & Maria. My two favorite weapons.
holy crap, just went to the Van Graffs for the first time. If you pick everything up and drop it all in the bathroom you can close the door, sneak, and steal it all with no karma loss. Wheeeeee 1750 MF Cells!
Have you done the quest for Mr House to use the chip under Ceasar's camp? ONce you accept that quest a messenger from Ceasar grants you safe passage to the Fort. You take a boat from Cottonwood Cove, which is held by the Legion. It's a bitch to get there though because there's a super irradiated town to go through crawling with ghouls and glowing ones.
Just did the Vault 34 Quest, i'm not usually scared when playing games but shit, i was jumping out of my skin everytime i went around a corner. Goddamn feral ghouls.
Spoiler: show
Fuck Giant Radscoprions. I accidentally bumped into a camp of like 10 of those fuckers doing some random exploration outside Goodsprings. I had to get on a ledge and unload all the Incinerator ammo I had been saving up just to kill them. > >
decided to start over. I was only an hour or two in, just reached Primm. my character was set up for Energy Weapons but I've found myself wanting to play with regular guns more this time around, since my Fallout 3 character was a laser-toting plasma-shooting Energy Weapon fiend. better to start over now than later I guess.
what are other people specializing in? and what awesome weapons have you found?
