Not sure if you'd want to dive into this if you haven't played much of Fallout 3. NV kind of assumes you already played Fallout 3 and know how the game works. You get very little in the way of ingame tutorials, except for like, the first time you turn on VATS or your Pip-Boy.

There's a difference between 'kind of buggy' and the game breaking shit that goes on in New Vegas.

PC patch is out, supposed to fix performance issues so you don't need to use the .dll trick to get the game running smoothly. Among a lot of other performance and glitch/corruption fixes.

I've lost Rex and have no clue where he is or how to get him back please help!!! The NPC's recognize him as still with me as in they talk to him and me like he is right there but I got no clue where he is or went.

same shit happened to both Domon and I with ED-E (I'm on the 360 version, I think Domon is too) and there's seemingly no way to get your companion back at that point. You can try waiting for 4-5 days or going to the Vault with the elevator (22 I think? The one with the plants) but unless you go back to an earlier save you don't really have much choice but to finish the game without Rex. Just keep an eye on your humanoid companion, as it sucks a lot more to lose Boone.

So far I've had two instances of losing companions:

1. Companion was trying to talk to me (Boone flagging his personal quest) and wouldn't fast travel. Waiting for 24 hours did the trick.
2. Companion was mysteriously set to Wait mode at the Lucky 38. Had to go to the ground floor to get her back.

Otherwise I guess I'm lucky, and I'm on 360 as well.

Go to Vault 22. Take the elevator down a floor. He should pop. Otherwise, no, you'll be stuck with him since you can't dismiss him.

Companions are the main reason I started saving every 10 minutes or so.

Last night I dismissed Arcade to try to do Raul's quest. (Which was impossible due to some arbitrary shit I did near the beginning of the game.)

When I went to grab Arcade again. He just responded "What's up?" and gave me no conversation options.


I did had one rather hilarious glitch that happened last night. For some reason any time I pulled up a scope, a lock pick attempt or even used the camera it would show a blank terminal window on screen overlaid on top of everything else. Made it a bit tough to aim the sniper rifle. Re-loading a file didn't fix it but resetting the game did.

Have they ever fixed the game crashing errors that plauged this game out the door? I was looking to give my wife gift ideas and put this on the list if it actually worked for more than 5 minutes without crashing. I can handle heads spinning and everything else but if the damn thing crashes constantly I'm not interested. Oh, I'm asking about the PS3 version.

I've gotten this glitch before too. It even has happened during hacking as well. Nothing shows up on the terminal so it's impossible to do.

Ever since the PC patch the game has become almost unplayable for me. The game has some fatal graphical error and ends up crashing within 30 minutes. The last one was kinda funny, it messed up the textures on the Bar owner in Goodsprings so she looked like a ghoul. Soon after I was kicked back to my desktop. It looks like I'm gonna have to wait to do my 2nd playthrough till they patch the patch

If you go up to the Penthouse it will automatically set any of your companions to wait mode.
