The Alexander model's size is very likely to be their problem though, because they can't dwarf its size or it will look wierd, and If they make it too large they will have issues with the animations. I have a feeling if they use alexander they will be using the model in the holographic image shown during the missions.

IIRC. SE did mention in JP fanfest 2008 that one of the new avatars is going to be "huge". Besides it will be relatively hassle-free to introduce Alex since they can just reuse the battle code from TAU mission fight.

Phoenix has been my top 'yes, please' avatar for as long as I can remember. We need another terrestrial light avatar to balance out Diabolos/Fenrir... Carby/Phoenix yesplox.

Considering the storyline involving Alexander, they could just give him a more player friendly form, given that what is fought at the end of the Aht Urhgan storyline is just a robotic construct built to house Alexander's spirit, and not his true form at all.

They could just be introducing a new line of Spirits. Christmas Spirit. Easter Spirit. Halloween Spirit. Very low perpetuation cost, almost no summoning cost. They all only function on the corresponding days, and are essentially moghouse decorations that follow the summoner!

That's what SE will do. Well, that or add DOOMTRAAAAAIN~!

If you want to get technical, Phoenix has always been sort of a mix between light and fire based, as while her damage was always fire based, her ability to raise was always something that you could consider light based. It wouldn't be too much of a stretch on SE's part to change Phoenix to a light based terrestrial avatar if they wanted to.

Alex -> light celestial
Odin -> darkness celestial

They've said there will be two new avatars. They have two expansions without an avatar in either. They have one expansion with an avatar and no RoZ doesn't count.

Why not count RoZ? You need it for 7 avatars.

It was later clarified that when they said 1 of the avatars was "large" they actually meant "tall".

Phoenix = Flames of rebirth = raise = fire element raise = fire element avatar.
