That's so embarassing.

There is a lot of talk about the /BLM elemental seal stuff. If this patch was aimed at BRD/BLM, then SE did a terrible job.
Before
2x BRD/BLM keeps Elegy on Cerb/Khim indefinitely.
Now
2x BRD/BLM keeps Elegy on Cerb/Khim for 8 minutes out of 10
3x BRD/BLM keeps Elegy on Cerb/Khim indefinitely.
So if this was targeted at BRD/BLM, SE did some really massive collateral damage for incredibly little desired effect.
Edit: And it's still completely effective for the Bards to be 75BRD/15BLM with no gear aside from instruments.
If they wanted to nerf BRD/BLM, then just make ES not work with songs...
Funny, I don't really remember being gifted with being the representative for the endgame community.
Everyone's being too harsh on Pikko, she's not the bitter cynical endgame player BG needs to represent us. The poor lady gardens sometimes makes einherjar while spending the rest of her time with her kids and bento art. She is far from as dependent on this game as we are. How could she ever represent our feelings?
That sirrobin guy is pretty cool.
I like the adjustments for Wyrms.
In my opinion (Take with a grain of salt if you must, I'm PLD NIN WAR RDM DRK 75)
*Neither Khimaira NOR Cerberus need a perpetuated Elegy to tank. Makes it easier, but by no means is it needed.
*If SE was intending this toward BRD/BLM Elegy, than yes they did create a bunch of collateral damage.
*If SE intended everything to go the way it did, it isn't going to change, find a way to circumvent it.
I think this might hurt RDM in endgame more than anything, seeing as how for Khimaira and Cerberus a lot of RDMs rely on Elemental Seal to land Slow 2, and I have friends who play RDM who all think that it's pretty damn silly to have BRD as a stronger source of debuffs than the "shining class" of it, RDM.
Keep in mind I don't play RDM too too often, but I do have to agree it's not the smartest idea on the blackboard to have even RDM Debuffs be cut in half on HNMs, when they weren't even a #1 source of debuffs in the first place.
Just my two cents >_>
It would be wonderful if this were a sweet, fluffy, friendly world where this was actually a feasible option, but unfortunately, it is not. If they even are polite enough to say "we'll pass it on," it's basically a guarantee that the information will not be passed on.
These types of people don't communicate with one another regularly, and especially not in this regard. This is true for companies contained wholly within the United States, even, but when you add in a language barrier, expecting this type of transparency in talks is practically ridiculous.
You have an optimistic outlook, but it does not represent reality.
Also, I don't really have a problem with Pikko myself. I've always loved her gardening information, and she writes coherent, friendly stuff. Thus, I too disagree that she should be expected to know more about the endgame community. She's a good writer for what she does. It's people like the PFA guy strutting his stuff and then shrinking away at criticism that's frustrating.
As someone who works at a major university with many independently-run departments, I can tell you that it's not unrealistic unless perhaps the entire team is outsourced or something.Originally Posted by Kohan

atleast now DRKs Resist Paralyze will proc more often then once in a million
I've actually worked in the videogame industry in game development, and I'm a journalist in it now. Your university may have a comprehensive and effective communications network, but the gaming industry is largely disconnected. When it comes to talks between North American and Japanese companies in particular, their being under the same corporate banner is practically meaningless.
Should it be this way? Of course not, but it is. Even companies significantly larger than Square-Enix (e.g., Nintendo) are affected by this. I'm also somewhat of a historian in this regard, and I can tell you that it's responsible for countless astounding bumbles and mind-boggling decisions made in the world of gaming every single day.
Would be nice, but no, it really isn't that way in the gaming world.Originally Posted by Teorem

Wut? I'm sorry, I'll have to take this back to Japan with me.
Had the original article been written in 03/04 I'd give a shit but we have 6 years of history that suddenly the lack of #care now is surprising to some people? Really?
