Depends on the club you go to. Over dressing can be just as bad as under dressing. But seriously, when two guys walk into a club, one dressed with baggy pants and another in a clean suit, will the girls really go after the baggy pants dude? Isn’t that a little high school-ish?
FWIW my job is fairly casual dress wise. I'm a sales coordinator with my own office. Typically wear either dress slacks, nice jeans, or khakis. Top is either a polo or a button up. Belt ALWAYS matches the shoes lol.
Haven't ever worn a tie to the office, only when I'm visiting with executives of companies that are customers/potential customers.
I was remarkably frustrated by this forever, so I really can't say enough about getting your shirts taken in. I've found it costs anywhere from 5-10 bucks per shirt (a bit more if you live in a city, as I do), and can be done in a few days. Try it with one shirt- you'll never go back.
The hair is an interesting part of this discussion.

Just make sure it looks neat please :\
Is it simply the attention to detail in dressing portrays attention to detail at work/life/confidence thing? I guess I can see that, you never know what/who you're going to run in to, so be dressed your best, right? That and the dress for the job you want thing are good pieces of advice that I should probably take.
I'd wear jeans/sneakers/t-shirt always if I could, solid colors ftw.
Well, I work in IT and we don't really have a super dress code. But I do keep it professional like tie and stuff. Though I can't say the same for some of my co-workers. We are all nerds :\
Alright, im going to break the chain - girl here
I have higher respect for men who are dressed like the OP said, especially when they wear a belt properly. A man in the work place that is dressed nice is a real turn on for most women, and i'm sure a female employer would be delighted to hire you by just the way your dressed (no joke).
Now in no way does buttoning your shirt all the way up, pulling your slacks up to your waist, matching your outfit, and tieing your fancy shoes up nice sound appealing to most men, but you would not beleive how much of an impression it is on some people to actually see a man that can pull it off well.
And I hate to say this, but if your hair is in your face, buy some gel and comb it back or trim it, just this once. Dont get me wrong, guys with a little overgrown hair is cute, but you need to know when to control it.
Try to get a pair of slacks from Dickies, that arent cargo or anything special, just plane jane. Avoid blue jean material. Dickies are pricey, but they last a long time. You will get your moneys worth.
edit: wow I posted this and theres 5 more posters above me, hehe
Guys who sag their pants need to jump in a pit of fire and kill themselves. Shit pisses me off, especially down here in Georgia, when I see people sagging their pants down to their knees and are always constantly pulling them up! Fuck's the point?
It got so bad that Atlanta had to pass a ridiculous law that banned people within its city limits to sag their pants. Seriously, look it up D:
Someone please explain why your belt has to match your shoes? That's silly, what are we, women? Black is a universal color and goes with any colored pants....and really in an interview or working situation, who really is going to take the time to see if your belt matches your shoes? I doubt that would be a deal breaker in getting hired or not...
What's the correct way/direction to wear a belt? I always put mine on counter clockwise. I'm pretty sure everyone else goes clockwise.
For real. I've got no style and should be the last person to discuss clothing and even I think those tits need to invest in a belt.
At least most of them have the decency to wear dark underwear so we don't see the skidmarks.
Seriously though, you guys are lucky. If I dress comfortable I look like a rapist, if I try to dress smart I look deranged.
I'm a web developer and when I talk to my clients (casual) I usually wear khakis or jeans; long sleeve (stripes) shirts or Ts (all gap), also depending how I feel Polo vests; last, Puma shoes (my favourites are red).
How does it sound, could it be a faux pas?
Edit: As far as the belt goes, my mum used to tell me the same.
Better visual appeal in other words.
