It depends on the gametype.

If you're a valve made, half life based FPS you're going to need a keyboard because that's how the game is designed and that's how the game mechanics work. Otherwise it looks and feels like you're playing with your feet, go onto youtube and just look up anyone playing L4D on xbox compared to the PC and you'll see the difference. If you look up the original demo L4D videos you'll see a particular difference as they only moved on the x and y axis one at a time (well, almost purely on one axis at a time), you dont have any control. And yes, I have an xbox 360 controller that I use for playing games on my laptop, any action adventure game, hands down, I'm using controller, like Assassin's Creed and DMC4.

However, like I said, it depends on the game, Halo is a very excellent game to be played with the controller.

L4D is not Halo.

I dont understand how people do complex things such as solo RDM with a controller. From what I saw when I played with one (I dont own a PS2 -> USB controller, was playing at a friends house) you had to hold down a shoulder button to bring up the macro pallet akin to holding alt or ctrl and then navigate using the arrow buttons to the right macro. That's got to take a lot more time than simply ALT+#

People like to ramble about how Goldeneye was the best FPS of all time or whatever, and it was great for it's age, but go back and play now and you'll find some retarded ass shit.

I especially noticed this when I played Home .:: GoldenEye: Source ::. A HL2 Modification fuck having to stop to shoot with any accuracy and fuck having perfect accuracy when you do that.

It works better in perfect dark since the reticule is always on screen, GE's a bit tougher in that respect

I never have gone back to play PE, but I am overly cautious of your saying it'd have a good keyboard/mouse setup.
