This is the gearset I use on BLM:
FFXIGEAR.com
I like others in this topic have figured out that INT/MAB don't really make much of a difference with Drain/Aspir so I go with skill > haste > m.acc, in that order, currently. If it's not Darksday or dark weather I'll use a swift belt (BLM can't equip Speed Belt) instead of the obi. I don't have Nashira Turban or Manteel, hence Walahra + Goliard Saio.
Works well.
Quick summary: Stick with the skill where you can get it, imo.
Given a choice of what to aim for, this would be it.

Dark Magic Skill -> Magic Accuracy -> Anything else, won't really matter.
I personally go with Haste > Dark Magic Skill > MACC.
Puto's Staff
W.Turban
Dark Torque
Nashira Body
Sorcerer's Gloves
Balrahn's Ring
Merciful Cape
Swift Belt
Wizard's Tonban+1
Nashira crackows.
Anrin in dark weather/day.
I really don't see resists all that often and mostly on anything but gods (besides Byakko), kirin, and just naturally dark resistant mobs. I don't really do any HNM though so my gear probably isn't up to spec for those.
Once upon a time I was DRK only and had 8/8 dark skill, but since leveled BLM and RDM and put 8/8 ele and 8/8 enfeeb. Haven't really noticed a difference lol.
I always went for accuracy over Haste for Drain/Aspir, since the Haste is only effective if you're consistently casting them right when the recast comes up. The optimum setup, in my opinion, would be this - FFXIGEAR.com
Whilst I did say that I prioritized accuracy, note that I did choose Nashira Turban over Valkyrie's Hat (magic accuracy +6) in favour of the Haste +2%, Enmity -5 and Spell interruption rate -10% on the former.
Yeah I'm actually aiming for a build just like that; I don't value the haste that much. HQ JSE feet is another story though; I've never even seen the NQ on Asura.
Should go like: Skill > MACC > Haste > whatever.
For DRK this isn't that hard. Basically I use Blitz + Swift belt + homam feet, drk magic skill wherever else.
315 DRK skill is niceIf I had Abyssal + sea cape I'd be at 325... rare drk magic body would be 331.
Scholar's Gown +1 wins the thread
Dark Magic skill increases the magic accuracy and raises the hard cap of Drain and Aspir. Magic Acc just makes it less likely to resist. INT and MAB both have no effect. Stack on Dark skill, 1st priority, then balance magic acc and haste/fast cast where you can't get Dark Magic, depending on your preferences.
And, yes, I am sure of this. Test it if you want. A good way to test it would be to go fight some worms or something (preferably high level enough to have the MP pool for this to work) with low MP and cast Aspir naked, then with dark skill only, then with INT only, then with MAB only. Post your results.
diabolos pole worth it ?
Only for Black Mage in Dynamis and Limbus. Other jobs do not have the Dark Magic skill to justify using it over Pluto's Staff. Perhaps a Scholar could get away with it with both Klimaform and Focalization.
This is my Bio/Drain/Aspir set on blm:
pluto's staff
dark grip
sweet sachet
shadow hat
dark torque
magnetic earring
loquacious earring
shadow coat
shadow cuffs
omega ring
balrahn's ring
ixion cape (would prefer the merciful cape but dont have it yet ; ; )
swift belt
wizard's tonban
rostrum pumps
i think macc affects it and i got many times 120+ aspir.in dyna with anrin obi i usually get 158 mp (at least in sandy as i can remember)
I agree with this one. I have not yet seen a complete test on INT. As a drk with full darkmagic merit and pretty decent darkmagic setup (320 skill, 15 Macc), I consistently got beaten by blm's drain. I have seen them do 300 drain very very often and it seems to me that their drain are alot more consistent than mine excluding Drain II obviously. I would put money on that INT has an effect on drain and aspir.
All this talk of INT effecting the magic accuracy of Drain and Aspir is really neither here nor there because Dark Skill effects both the potency and accuracy of the spells, and is what you should ultimately be using. In case where you can't have Dark Skill, you should have magic accuracy or haste in the slot.
And get a Pluto's Staff too.

Do you use a Pluto's Staff though? Reason I ask is because that is the most often forgotten element when comparing Drk to Blm. Melee generally do not swap weapons on casts, as its not practical, where Blm always do and the staff is the greatest factor. The Drk I had running tests with me a long time ago did do this for science, and as Drk with like 20+ skill over us blms, casting with Pluto's averaged higher numbers consistently.
Thanks for stating the obvious, but I am talking morrigan head > nashira turban, and no Haste+2% is not going to benefit you hardly ever for that, moreover it is only going to take off maybe 1-2sec. If you casted Aspir every single time it was up instantly then that will do a little for you over a long period of time, otherwise it is doing next to nothing for you.

Obviously, dark grip and Igqira Huaraches would be best, but I'm lazy/those are absurdly difficult to get (the huaraches).
