    Corsair Merits

I just got my Corsair to 75 tonite and I'm having difficulty deciding what I should merit.

I understand that, especially Cat2 merits, that my choices might depend on my playstyle - wether I'm an aggressive or conservative roller. Mainly just looking for some insight on how I should go about putting my merits in. Input?

It's probably no surprise but Snake Eye 5/5 is a must, it's an amazing JA.

    I went with:

    Quick Draw Recast 5/5
    Quick Draw Accuracy 5/5

    Snake Eye 5/5
    Fold 4/5
    Loaded Deck 1/5

Winning Streak wasn't appealing to me, but to each their own.

    5/5 Snake Eye.
    1/5 fold.

After that, it's up to you. I find that 1/5 fold I can still roll aggressively but for the most part I haven't really waited on the timer. Faster fold will let you be way more aggressive, though, so it's not a bad idea.

This is what I basicly had in mind. If you were to do 1/5 fold, where would the other merits go? I'm assuming Winning Streak.

I was planning on doing 5/5 quick draw recast/accuracy, so doing loaded deck past 1/5 seems like a complete waste.

Don't do Winning Streak. At -20 seconds per merit you'd have to do at least 3 levels to make it really worthwhile, imo. Why you wouldn't want to have lowest possible recast time on Snake Eye and Fold, I can't fathom. Throwing 1 into Loaded Deck is nice just to have just so you know Random Deal is going to do something a majority of the time. Almost everyone has at least 2 abilities waiting on timers at any one time.

Sorry for the derail but doesn't it suck how they took a duration timer (which is supposed to be a tier 1 merit), slapped a job trait with a fancy name on it, and packaged it as a tier 2 merit?

Seems like you got cheated out of a real ability/trait option. Fortunately the other choices are pretty useful.

EDIT: Corrected mistake in first sentence, meant to say duration timer, not recast timer.

Snake Eye is seriously a merit of comparable importance to Overwhelm. Winning Streak is probably attractive to the CORs who like to DD.

The difference between a COR/WHM and an aggressive, well-meritted, and well-geared COR/RNG,DNC,WAR in merit parties is incredible.

stop hating on my naked cor

I'm most likely going to be doing 5/5 snake eye, 1/5 fold, 4/5 winning streak because it's a mule that's always 2boxed so it makes it more convenient for me :S

A COR mule is the one instance where it would actually be really handy to have Winning Streak merited. I just want to /facepalm at the once who act like WS merits are Jesus on wheels. The threads on KI about it are amusing read now and then.

Im a DD COR and even I think Winning Streak is useless.

I just find 5/5 Snake and 4/5 Fold makes it so I can try and get the best possiable buffs on my party.

5/5 Snake Eyes You can force a lucky number, get off of an unlucky number 6+ safely, or just plain get a more potent buff without risking a buff.

Personally, I went 5/5 Fold, so i can roll more aggresively and take chances.

    That's what i did.

    5/5 Snake eye
    4/5 Fold
    1/5 Loaded Deck

Winning streak is pretty useless. It's often better to bust an unlucky roll and reroll than to be stuck with it for 3+ minutes.

The problem with Winning Streak is it's not nearly as useful as Fold. Fold will let you push better numbers which is a key to maximizing Cor efficiency.

The *only* reason I'm not pushing Fold further atm is simply due to other merits taking priority in my mind (I honestly don't wait on my fold timer too often but it does suck when you are; you definitely roll less aggressively).

I'll say you can get by with 1 in Fold for merits, but I would eventually push it to at least 3 or 4. I would merit it like:
    1 fold
1 Snake Eye (than cap this)
Than, if you wish, you can push other merits more hardcore.

it all depends on your playstyle and what you use cor for, personally im maxing winning streak and phantom roll recast, 4 in snake eye, 1 in fold then maybe quick draw recast. Im a conservative roller using snakeyes to get off unlucky or to go from 10->11. Fold for the 6-6-6-6-6 modes only. And cutting down on roll recast you could just reroll off the bust only affecting you. (Also im a DD cor... parsing top 3 in my dynamis ls vs several relic weapons and being competitive in merit parties)

I had 3 in Winning Streak before the Tier 2 bump (What's the use between 15 and 10 minutes?), so I decided to finish it and put 2 in Fold and Snake Eye.

If I were to start over, I'd do 5/5 Snake Eye, but I really don't want to delete all those merits. :/

    This. I ended up with:
    4 Snake Eye
    2 Fold
    3 Winning Streak
    1 Loaded Deck

    Group1 is:
    5 PR Recast
    5 QD Recast

It's funny being disappointed with not capping Snake Eye or Fold but since they raised the cap on Group2s I haven't --EVER-- waited on Snake Eye or Fold timers when I wanted to get rid of a roll or get that 1. *shrug* Just me I guess.
