UAE Royal Family Member's Torture Video

That actually reminded me of a link a friend had posted on his facebook wall a few weeks back:

I'm no way trying to condemn the UAE, it's just the torture video was a bit shocking to see by a member of royalty. I would compare the video of the Shiek torturing the man to be roughly the same effect as if Dick Cheney had been the one torturing the inmates at Gitmo personally. The guards at Gitmo can at least use the excuse of they were ordered to do it. The Shiek did it for his own personal pleasure and recorded it so he could enjoy watching himself do it again and again.

Recording it for personal viewing later makes this a bit more extreme than the inmate torturing in my opinion. It's like the time when the Abu Grahb (sp) photos got released and there was the huge uproar of protest against the guards who did it. Torturing is one evil in itself, but making evidence of it to later view brings it to a whole new level.

That link seriously makes it look so fucked up.

Just imagine being a foreigner (most likely from your jail cell in Guantanamo Bay or from underneath the rubble of what used to be your hut/house/shack/etc. after a Freedom Missile of Liberty liberated you from the shackles of your freedomless life) and watching Glenn Beck (with Jon Voight on as a guest calling you and your people, 'barbarians') or CRIBS.

I have RL friends that live there and they can atest to this. The UAE isn't a horrible place at all. Every country has their ups and downs. It's no different than how the US uses undocumented workers being payed by the day at far below minimum wage prices from day labor pick up sites. No country is perfect with how everyone is treated in there borders.

The point is how can a country let someone stay in a position of power when it is shown that he physically committed these crimes for his own sadistic pleasure. If a video came out of a politician in America torturing a person like that, it would be all but assured there would be downfall. Hell they get downfall if they get caught sleeping with prostitutes.

I feel like I'm being whooshed right now.

And I know he's not the crown prince, but he's still in a high position of power being in the royal family and brother to the crown prince. Pro American or not doesn't make up for anything in my books. Letting something like this slide would be like letting Prince Charles slide if he went on a shooting rampage in a supermarket one day. Bad example yes, but would be the same end result.
