Can I Re-Obtain Dropped SMN Quest Gear?

I had dropped Ifrit's Blade a long time ago, I was wondering if I can get my sword back somehow? I killed ifrit again but I did not get an option to pick my sword. Please Help!

Everything I've heard with regard to this says you're screwed. I would suggest looking for a different weapon. Exceptions to this are the throwing items (i.e. Fenrir's Stone) and the Evoker's Ring quest items.

When re-questing AF, you don't have to drop anything until the moment you are about to receive the replacement item.

I did exactly this, and I even called a GM and they said that I couldn't even use the one-time pass for recovering dropped items since I dropped mine a while ago.

Turns out, however, that you can get another tuning fork. I forget the process, but I talked to everyone in the quest again and again and eventually got another tuning fork. I really don't know what I did, but there is a method for getting another one.

Edit: It was the "Lightning Pendulum" that I dropped, not a tuning fork. And yeah, I eventually was able to obtain another one.
