Sidewinder / Slugshot w/ sea gorgets

I would like to work toward a set of sea gorgets (once my SE token arrives and doubles my inventory). Several of them seem to affect the accuracy of Sidewinder and Slugshot. Could someone clarify the exact mechanics?

Does the accuracy latent trigger only when the WS close a skillchain of the requisite element? For example, do I only get the bonus if Sidewinder closes Reverberation in a skillchain (while wearing an Aqua Gorget)? Or is the latent triggered merely by using a WS that is innately aligned with the element of water?

And is there any reason to have, say, both Aqua and Breeze gorgets (again if my main concern is increasing acc and dmg for Sidewinder)

These weapon skills have skillchain properties Reverberation, Transfixion, and Detonation. So you can wear Aqua Gorget, Light Gorget, or Breeze Gorget. The gorget will always activate during your weapon skill regardless of what skillchain you are using. Also, since these weapon skills have Accuracy varying with TP, not damage, the gorget will only increase Accuracy. If you're going to get any gorget for them, I would suggest Breeze Gorget since it can be used with other good weapon skills for several other jobs.

dont think gorget work that way.. correct me if im wrong. They just change the damage formula directly and doesnt matter if your chaining or not?

Gorget latent always works, assuming you're using one that works for that WS (aqua, breeze, or light for slugwinder). You do not need to be skillchaining at all.

This is wrong. Gorgets increase the ftp multiplier of the first hit of any WS by .1. Slugshot/sidewinder ftp for example will be changed from 5.0 to 5.1.

I thought they increased the effect TP had on the weapon skill. Or is it always damage?

Always damage. It ups the ftp multiplier (which is 5.0 for sidewinder). Hagun/etc "TP Bonus" is what ups whatever effect TP has on the WS.

Good to know, I'll put Snow Gorget back in my Mordant Rime macro!

Edit: I was thinking of Martial weapons.

Yes, fTP is different from TP. As said, for Slug/Sidewinder it'll take fTP from 5.0 to 5.1, which increases damage. This fTP figure multiplies your weapon's base damage + fSTR(2) + WSC total, which is then multiplied by pDIF(2).

As great as a Sea gorget is for Slug and Sidewinder, they're even better for Detonator (base fTP is lower, so the % increase when adding 0.1 is greater).

To be more implicit, TP modifies fTP, but not vice versa.

So a WS with fTP multipliers of 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 at 100, 200, 300 tp would have an adjusted fTP bonus with a martial weapon, as if it were at the higher TP value; but weaponskills with no adjusted fTP (Slugwinder is the only one that comes to mind but I'm sure there are others) will see no difference with a martial weapon, but will see a difference with a gorget.

    Popular weaponskills are either:
    - Increase fTP with TP (in-game described as damage)
    - Increase ACC with TP
    - Increase chance of critical hits with TP (meaning it can crit; other WSs cannot unless forced)

Depending on the WS the initial stuff differs greatly. Pretty sure Penta/Asuran don't gain any innate ACC, while some other ACC WSs do. There's a H2H crit WS that has an innate crit of like 50%, but Raging Rush/Drakesbane? 0%, fairly sure. Full Swing goes from 1 to 3 to 5 fTP (100/200/300) and Gekko goes from 1.5625 to 1.875 to 2.50.

Then there's some static stuff like additional hits being 1.0 fTP always, offhand hits being 1.0 fTP w/ offhanded weapon DMG, single-hit WSs gaining an ACC and pDIF bonus, and for Slugwinder, the -RACC. Also, the 8 hits cap applies, making DA useless for Asuran and not-so-awesome for dualwielded Hexa.
