One of the Admins on Alla wrote out a very well written Editorial on SE's Silence about the elemental resistance issue that was on the front page of alla for everyone to see. SE regularly reads Alla and they more than likely saw the editorial on the front page. I am not saying that it was the sole cause of them fixing the issue, but it was one of many things that helped push the issue. The fact that they got a representative to post on the forums I think is a step in the right direction in bridging the gap of communication between players and SE.

Charitwo contributes there and he and I played on Pandemonium together as well as with a few others back in the day and let me tell you, he is the definition of a twit. So they didn't talk to people. They didn't really clarify anything. They didn't even promise to make future updates clearer. All they did was say "hey, we do read some of your topics!" Many of us already knew that. Nothing changed and we still have no real way of knowing what the devs are actually thinking and what they're actually doing. We only have the vague notion that somebody may be reading our posts and that person might choose to talk to somebody who has some real power over the game and that person may choose to improve things.

This is no less frustrating. It's exactly the same as always. They COULD respond to threads, saying what the devs are thinking, but they don't. Not even on the Japanese sites where the real devs could actually talk to people who play the game.

This! I am sure they would have eventually fixed the issue either way, but the Alla editorial is the reason SE apologized in the April 23 patch notes and again in this separate message.

It's rather refreshing seeing this tone of attitude from SE recently. Almost seems as if they've realized the lack of communication between the player-base and the dev-team and are finally making strides to establish it.

Unfortunately, it took us some time to coordinate exactly how to best address the issue with the development team which in turn made us unable to make any public announcements. We are working hard to ensure that this lack of communication does not repeat itself in the future ....

They explained what happened, and it appears that they could not publicly address the issue until the dev team acknowledged the issue. They also promised to make sure that the lack of communication doesn't happen again. They know they screwed up and the fact that they have gone on to post on one of the premiere sites with an apology and explanation means a lot. They could have just left it as is with the message that was on POL, but they went the extra mile. Now I am not saying that them taking 2 weeks to address the issue is a good thing. But they at least owned up to it and they are taking the steps to communicate with us. This is the first time that I can recall SE publicly giving details as to how the ball was dropped on their end when it came to something they screwed up.

Yeah, the only thing this post does is apologize for the lack of notice if they're going to fix the enfeebling issue or not. It's not even meant to be a "We're going to be more open to the playerbase from now and notify you of everything we'll ever do!" post in the first place.

Censorship. If BG became a community/premier site, they would have to follow certain guidelines that SE lays out for every community/premier site. That would mean certain boards and threads would have to go bye-bye.

P.S. There is an SE Rep account, and it has been in use in the past. I've seen it float around once or twice in the past couple of months.
