I don't have any testing to back it up, but one thing I noticed when I was messing around with Whm/Nin was that if I missed a swing with my main hand, I would usually get a connect with my off hand. Any chance that if it does indeed proc only with the next swing, that it would proc in the off hand and not the main hand?

Yea, I spammed /check the entire time I was swinging and it never went to low evasion.

Yea, that might be it. I didn't really consider a samba type effect. I did submit a bug report to SE but I normally don't really see much back from them.

To test if it is a samba effect couldn't you fight something that your ACC would be low on without auspice to get an ACC % with parser. Then use auspice w/ afflatus misery and record your hits/misses that follow a miss.

However, I can see 2 issues with this test.

    1. If its a small acc bonus it would be harder to see.
    2. If you miss twice in a row, does the third swing get the bonus, does the bonus wear on the 2nd swing and need to be reapplied with a new miss, or does the bonus get stronger with consecutive misses?

Ambush does not change the /check accuracy whether you're behind the target or in front of it. At least it didn't when I tested it ~two years ago.

Because the enlight effect of a Misery'd Auspice only affecting the first hit (and by that I mean only the first intended hit, it doesn't proc on a 2nd+ hit if the 1st misses), it should stand to reason that the acc bonus is only on the following first hit, and might not show up because an accuracy change that shows up under check should affect the entire attack round (if the change wears off during the attack round the accuracy should be the same for all hits of the round regardless).

Might just have to take this one on faith, or extremely large statistically sound data sets. If you desire a test, make damn sure your data sample size is huge.

Yea, it's going to take like a 3-4 hour merit party to actually test this properly. If I can muster up the attention span for 4 hours of /a /a /a /a /a /a /a /a /a I'll give it a shot.

I'm pretty sure boost wears regardless of hit/miss status

/check is for the most part useful when trying to get information. However, check isn't always the greatest as it doesn't take level correction into account. So the system is not perfect.

Now, I believe that Auspice works the way it does. Just that /check doesn't pick it up. We can all agree that sneak attack your next attack will be 100% garunteed if you attack from behind. If you were to stand behind a mob after using sneak attack and check a mob, it will still show high evasion, but you will be able to land the attack. I believe that Auspice does the same thing...it just puts a bonus on top of whatever your accuracy is, and is not displayed by /check. A good experiement would be to get a DNC that has closed position merits. Have them equip ACC gear till they are 1 acc off of making the mob low evasion when standing anywhere but in front of the mob. Engage the mob and check again to see if it changes. If it doesn't, it support the theory that it bypasses the /check function and Auspice does the same.
