Just looking through the news and saw this BBC NEWS | World | Americas | Mexico flu 'a potential pandemic' about a flu outbreak in Mexico that's speading into North America.

It seems most of the people who have died where healthy adults between 25-45 which is a bad sign as it's not just the elderly and very young that are dying from it. Any people from Mexico about who could give us an inside scoop?

Been reading about this, and not happy to have a co-worker who is returning from Jamaica next week return to the office. I know Jamaica isn't Mexico, but resorts seem to spread diseases like nothing else (though cruise ships are probably the worst, hi2u Norwalk virus)

It's a type of influenza virus. According to TV Azteca, the virus was first reported in Oaxaca (near Acapulco), on April 13th. The carrier, a woman, died several hours later after she arrived at the hospital. The doctors quarantined the hospital and analyzed about 50 people who were in contact with the infected. Days later, an usual number of people w/ flu symptoms were treated @ the INEA (National Institute of Respiratory Diseases) in Mexico's capital, DF. However, other similar cases have been reported in 9 different states, one of which is near Texas.

Apparently, the Mexican authorities want to enforce curfews to prevent the proliferation of the virus, tough shit going on. I wasn't aware of this >_>

I was talking to my Mom about this this morning and she said this is the 2nd time that an outbreak of the Swine Flu has occurred. the first was in the 1970's and the whole country had to get vaccinated for it.
