i've taken a look through elphaba's livejournal. and this is a person who should under no uncertain terms be making literary criticisms of any kind, whether she was attempting facetiousness when she wrote that particular piece or not. i say this not in defense of the op's writing, nor solely as an attack on elphaba's, but out of concern for the notion that she might actually do something as misguidedly self-righteous as contact his professor. i think that for your opinion of your own talents to be so falsely high that you feel the need to attempt to potentially jeopardize an individual's paid post-secondary education with complaints to his professors you must, as your own writing also suggests, live a somewhat empty life. it is really a more immoral thing to do than to post on a website asking for people to vote on your work in a contest. which his prof, as others have already mentioned, probably acknowledges anyway, and which will obviously be what determines the results regardless.

i have been published in several arts and literary magazines, quarterlies and journals, and i think that the op's sentence is the best one.

I really only read the first page of the thread because Elphaba's vagina blood covered the rest of it and it wasn't visible. Elphaba, until you're teaching creative writing courses at a college level, you should probably just shut the fuck up, for the following reasons:

1) You don't have a formal education in the matter; therefore, your opinion is automatically invalid.

2) He was asking for votes, not literary criticism.

3) Chances are that you're not nearly as intelligent and eloquent as you appear to think you are, so go do your vaginal bloodletting elsewhere, you twat.

Even then, one could question the validity of the comments. For there are plenty of widely-celebrated authors, many of whom have penned text of all sorts, who do not strictly adhere to every last grammatical rule; among them is an understanding that all kinds of expression, be they run-on sentences, excessive semi-colon usage, and similarly "imperfect" writings may be respected or better, beloved; as the successful conveyance of feelings and emotions -- even if done in redundancy -- is more significant than any mere list of regulations.
