I wouldn't call anything they did as 'hacking'... but awesome nonetheless.

Really I would consider this one of the most classic definitions. Jargonfile, etc.

utilizing merely a html address at first? Meh

Getting the value from the flash app is maybe considered, but there's a lot of easy to get tools out there for that nowadays. Someone needs to make a Flash obfuscator already

/b/ may be a bit infantile, but this hack is probably going down as one of the top Internet practical jokes ever pulled off. Absolutely brilliant.

Fuck I'm really stupid, I have no idea what this game is about, but thinking of all that computer hacking shit makes my head explode. It's crazy how these dudes can manipulate technology in their favor, pretty soon there will be cyborgs running around killing everything. No one will be safe. Cyborgs.

All those are intentional attempts to make people lose the game.
You are correct, and if you "fall" for any of those, you don't lose the game. That's not how it works.

again correct me if i'm wrong, it's also complicated and i don't really know how to explain it well over the interwebbernets

    Nope.

    Here's the deal:

As soon as someone tells you about the game, you're playing, rather you want to or not.

There is no winning the game, only losing the game.

You cannot intentionally cause someone to lose the game. When you try, the only person that loses is you.

When you lose the game, you must say out loud, "I lost the game." All those present at the time are given a few minutes of freedom from losing the game. However, if, 20 minutes later, you think back about how so and so lost the game earlier... then you've lost the game, and you must say so.

That's basically all there is to it, all the idiots doing pictures and stories and crap designed to make you lose the game are just idiots that are losing it themselves.

Look at it this way: as you're reading this, you're not losing the game. However, because I wrote this to explain, and not for the purpose of causing you to lose the game, in a couple hours if you for some random reason think about this post and therefore the game, then you'll have lost.

So right now even though I have absolutely no concept whatsoever in the slightest most infantile sense, what this 'game' is, I apparently am now playing? I spent a while thinking about this because my mind goes on tangents all the time over little things like this. I within the space of a few minutes, started playing the game and lost it too. (This reminds me of one of those physics/philosophy questions about Schrodinger's Cat or something.)
