Are SF4 mechanics that different than SF3: 3rd Strike? I know there is no parrying, but it seemed like those guys were not that great. Maybe it's cuz I'm comparing to 3.

As far as the differences go, they are 2 completely different games.

IMO - 3rd Strike is like 10x better. It takes more skill, quickness, and timing. SF4 is just 1 frame connectors and a very balanced overall character list (in most situations, Bison rapes some chars, Blanka rapes some others, etc).

The best non-"vs" Street Fighter though was SF3 - 2nd Impact. Ibuki in that game.....omg.

Edit - To make myself clearer:

Take 3rd Strike / Marvel: It takes a much stronger skillset to excel at these. People who I am even with in SF4, I murder in these.

Take SF4: You can play for a month and get down focus cancels into your ultras (hardest technical aspect of the game). Add in some zoning techniques, and bam, you're on the same playing field as most solid players. It is much easier to be good at the game. This is why you see such a strong interest in this game as opposed to 3rd Strike when it came out. People have discovered they can actually compete in SF4.
