    Quick question

    I'm just curious because I can't think of it and if there are any movie or TV buffs here then awesome, but is there any formal name for those black and white, cliche private investigator dramas? Like a genre name? Would it just be "P.I. crime drama?"

    Most ambiguous would be Drama, and to further categorize it would probably be criminal drama.
