    TP burn Kirin

    I thought I remember a thread about this a while ago, but the most recent thread I found was early '08, and didn't really have the info I was looking for. Sorry if I missed it.

    I was mainly wondering what's the lowest amount of people we could do this with. Obviously we need:

    BRDx3
    THF (TH and Feint)
    DRG (Angon)

    After that, how many additional healers and melee do we need? Is any particular DD stronger than another? (We have no Mkris/kc/ridill DRK)

    We are doing only 1 pop, so assume all 2hours.

    Regular DD's should be fine

    Kclub/Mkris drk's would be great help, but not really needed.

    Just a healer for every party should also be fine.

    Also have all your brd's swap parties, so your whole alli should have Minx2, Marchx2, and Madrigalx2.

    Poison pots to avoid Sleepga and having a WHM in party who can Benediction if Astral Flow is particularly nasty doesn't hurt either.

    We normally try to plan a full zerg, but if we're a bit short we just kite kirin while we kill the minis, then "zerg" kirin. It's a lot safer that way if you're on the fence about it.

    If you don't want to do a pure TP burn, here is the alternative of non kiting method.

    My old linkshell was able to do this w/o using 2hr. Took about 20-25 mins. It was just the same set up as kiting strategy except we weren't kiting entirely. Only kite until we kill all the adds which can be done with DD and BLM pts.

    After adds die then straight tanking, Kirin alliance has 1 Tank pty, 1 DD pty, 1 Blm pty. Tank pty needs both brd and rdm, DD pty can have BRD and WHM, and then BLM pt just need some kind of refresh. Don't need med really. Prefer DDs are SAMs and WARs. Just make sure when fighting that everyone is close enough at to share the gaIII and it won't really hurt so much. Don't remember mass drop during any astral flow either. If you have more than 18, you can always swap BLMs in and out while they are resting or swap the dead SAMs/WARs.

    In my old LS, if we didn't zerg, a RDM/NIN would kite Kirin while the alliance killed minis, then that RDM/NIN straighttanked Kirin and the alliance (mainly melee, really, some BRDs) would TP-burn Kirin down in like 10 minutes. Including the minis that's like 25 minutes? The only time it didn't work was the time when Kirin cast 43 (literally, I counted them) back-to-back Stonega IVs and melee had to back off not to die (mages quickly ran out of MP). I still don't know what kind of weird big that was. The odds of him doing that are simply too low.

    Our setup is usually

    Brd/Whm/4DD
    Brd/Whm/4DD
    Brd/Whm/3DD/THF

    Start a brd rotation and pop Kirin as soon as soon as 6th song kicks in. DD need to have poison because of Sleepga II. Whm should have curaga III selected via Menu when Astral Flow goes off. White Mage can start haste at 3rd song. Outside people should be mages cure bombing DD's. Warriors need to provoke kirin. 2 DD 2hr per pop set is what we usually go by as we usually have 3-5 Kirin sets. GL.

    3 Brds, 3 Whm's, 6 strong DD's, fill in with back up DD's as appropriate.

    I usually did between 4k and 7k, depending on when he killed me.

    Times I've lived I've hit 9k~10k.

    Never had a zerg weapon Drk there, Sam/Mnk/War mainly, Drg for angon, Thf for Th.

    With 10 DD's you need to pump out 4500 Dmg each in roughly 30 seconds to guarantee a win, as he'll be under 20% at that point.

    If you want a failsafe measure, have a Rdm/Nin kiter, and a party that can kill minis ready.

    If you wipe then, just start kiting while the add party (with 0 hate on Kirin) pulls minis and you get your DD's up/Bio III Kirin.
