AGP slot won't read X1600 pro

I had a nvidia 7600 GS which was working perfectly fine until the fan started to get ridiculously loud and very annoying. I unplugged the fan, I was told this was not safe but I have been safe for over 5 months and counting.

Of course I didn't play any of those crazy 3D games because it probably would have fried it so I decided it was time to update it. I went with this:

HIS Radeon X1600 Pro AGP Review | Hardware Secrets

and this is the motherboard itself:

    Biostar USA

But nothing comes up when I boot my PC up. The screen is just black, no beeps or any kinds of noise. The card's box says it's an AGP8x and the back of the box of my mobo says it can run AGP 8x so I really don't understand what I am doing wrong.

What's your power supply, and the rest of your PC's specs (e.g., processor)?

I don't know exactly but it's 500W's and the card said it needed 450W's. I have an AMD 64 3400+.

That card is old enough where it should need more than a 450W power supply.. and I don't see a separate 6-pin power plug in the pics so that's not it either.. It sounds like either the card is seated wrong, or maybe a BIOS setting or BIOS update issue? Try re-seating the video card in the slot to make sure it's in there correctly.

If that doesn't at least get you past your post screen, plug in your old video card for the moment and look in your BIOS to see if the AGP slot is set to 8x mode (it might be on a lower setting). If that's not it try flashing your BIOS with the most recent version.
