I just realized my friend is a compulsive liar

About the stupidest shit. It didn't click until someone mentioned things she said in the past. Almost everything she has told us over the year and a half we've known her has been bullshit.

Should I call her out? How should I call her out on it? How do you handle this shit.

She lies about shit like going to the store or fucking crazy things like saying she got hit by lightening the other day and was "considering" going to the hospital. Or that she knows all these band members. I've caught her in a few lies.

Last semester me and a few other friends were at her house studying for finals and she showed us this shirt she was working on from a picture (trying to copy the design.) Last week she brought that same shirt in and said the guy in the picture bought the design from her and she knows him etcetc

I got her in another one too like saying she knew a band I totally fucking made up

Or that she had backstage tickets to a concert another of our friends went to because she "knew the singer" but ended up changing her story like a fucking billion times

How do I handle this? Any trolling advice or experience with this type of shit?

Shes not great looking. Mainly what kills it is the fact she is covered head to toe in anime tattoos. She has a sailor moon that i've been trying to get a picture of for a really long time to post in random. It's eyes go <_>

Seriously, my grandmother is just like this and I can't stand it. She told me Hilary Clinton called her a "nigga" last year during primaries. She told me my 10 month old niece sang the whole chorus to "I believe I can fly" a few months ago. I'm trying to think of some other examples, but she does it so freakin often that I just completely tune her out when I'm around her. The getting struck by lightning thing reminds me of my grandmother's "I had a stroke but didn't care" story.

The best thing to do is to not be friends with that person anymore. Seriously, people like this are annoying.

I'm scared to tell her to fuck off with the stories shit because my other friends are pretty attached to her I think. I've never brought it up to them. They've said some stuff to me but I don't know if they are as fed up as I am

OH GOD another thing she does is constantly ask for attention. She weighs like 90 pounds, shes 5'10'' and is always going "I'M SO FAT." you know the story I'm sure

She also uses an injury she got awhile back from a drunk hitting her as an excuse for everything. Like, she had to get surgery awhile back and brought in a doctors note etc, but now shes like "I have to have surgury every 2 weeks" and "i'm on drugs and if I eat I'll get sick [see above]" but also for fucking stupid shit like... we go out to eat every Thursday after class and shes like "lets go to Mongolian grill (or what the fuck ever that place is) and I really couldn't afford $20 a plate so I said I'd just go home and I couldn't afford it. Shes like "That's the only thing I can eat without getting sick." or she will call shotgun if we carpool because she "gets motion sick if she sits in the back." its an excuse for EVERYTHING.

One of our classes together is one of those faggy required attendance classes and she has probably made 4 out of the 16 weeks where she went from start to finish. She will go to the bathroom, say she threw up, and come back to class and say she has to go home. Would be fine but she does it EVERY FUCKING CLASS and the teacher being really really nice (probably the coolest teacher I've ever had, seriously.) lets her go and doesn't grade her down because she feels bad for her.

God damnit I'm getting more annoyed every time I type up a post.

Regarding OPs friend, being a compulsive liar may be because:
a. She tries to fit in by impressing people (which obviously doesn't work when you have to lie and get caught)
b. Being a compulsive liar is also listed as a mental personality disorder (no, I'm not saying that all liars have that disorder but it is an option )

Either way, I'd just confront her, if you really like her, do it in an understanding / caring kinda way and see what she has to say for herself, base your conclusion on that

If you're fed up with the BS, just say so and be done with it.

I did this to my grandmother once. I told her I saw on the news where the police raided a bunch of plantations in the south. I said that according to the news, they had been using slaves for their cotton industry for centuries and they were totally unaware of the civil war/slaverly abolished over a hundred years ago. She was like "Yeah, channel 8, right? I saw that too. Man those slaves seemed so confused when they finally freed them. All this time...they even said on the news that there are more slaves to be freed".

I had to hold my breath, bite my tongue, clench every single muscle in my midsection and cover my nose and mouth tightly just to keep from laughing harder than I ever laughed in my life.

Had (or rather, kinda still have...) a friend like yours. He would always cancel plans with us for unknown reasons, or say he would be going on vacation of some sort. I remember for a Halloween party we invited him over for a kegger and he said he wouldn't be able to make it.

Well, he was rooming with someone I work with, and his roomie told me at work that he got the Comcast bill. It was over 250 bucks, all from pay-to-view pornography. The best part was that it showed the date and times it was ordered: Oct 31st, 8(ish)PM and again at 10(ish) PM. We had a hearty laugh in his expense.

Moral of the story, calling someone out on their shit (especially when it is embarrassing) is glorious.
