    NYC trip, Warp tour, Uniondale.

Hey, My friends and i are currently looking for holidays to NYC, and we noticed Warped tour was on in Uniondale on the dates we were thinking of going. Im wondering if any of you know how practical it is to travel between NYC and Uniondale, or have any information regrading Uniondales atmosphere, the people etc... (i understand its a long shot any of you have info on this place)

We are all from england(UK) by the way so my knowledge of the customs and workings of American towns is very limited, wiki puts this at a 50%ish African american population, is this a bad thing? I have no objection mixing with all races n religeons, but i wouldnt want to thrust myself into a place where they see tea drinking white guys as easy prey.

Additional questions, anyone been to a warp tour before? how was it etc?

And the other must see stuff to do in NYC? (ive been once before but i was only 18 and it was with school, im sure my friends are gonna make me go up the empire state building again..) but im thinking more adult themed adventures this time around.

    Thanx.

All you have to do is open your mouth and you're good. The British accent commands respect 'round these parts.

Travel shouldn't be too bad. Road travel to/from Long Island can be a real pain in the dick (traffic wise) sometimes though.

If you're into the club scene I recommend Pacha, and Webster Hall is pretty fun too. I won't bother to mention all the obvious land marks, you've probably seen them all already on your last trip.

i live in manhattan , unfortunately dont know too much uniondale..
but there's lots of things to see in here:

brooklyn bridge (a must..walk to brooklyn from south of manhattan very fun)
    central park
    chinatown
    sex museum
staten island ferry (it's free, you'll pass the statue of liberty and can drink a can of beer sitting on the bridge)
    south stree seaport
brooklyn flea market in ft greene (ever sat)
red hook ball fields (lots of south american food here every weekend)
    grand central station
    times square
PS1 (if you're coming in summer time)
    MOMA

not sure what you're into, but can recommend bars/stores/restos as well if needed~

    Lamp--

I'm from Long Island. This show is @ Nassau Coliseum which is a real shitty venue for this kind of an event (if it is going to be indoors).

I went to a few Warped Tour events a while back, several years in a row. It is great if you like the performers (back then it was punk/ska stuff, which at the time I was in to).

Also: LULZ @ 50% black population. I suppose it may be true, however if you are going to Warped Tour show, chances are you won't have too many close encounters of the ebony kind.

PS- travel can be a bitch w/traffic (rush hour), but it is probably a 45min drive from the city. If you are taking public transportation, no worries!

The Warped tour lineup this year is devastatingly bad.

Warped tour is pretty hit or miss. If you want to go to see a bunch of bands, you may only be able to go to a few due to set times. When I went last year, there were tons and tons of people, but for the 3 bands I went to see, the crowd wasn't that big for the number of people that were walking around.

I suggest you walk around singing a cover of Sting and NYC will fulfill your trip with a montage.

The fact that you didn't even acknowledge Bouncing Souls make you a complete failure
