    Laptop Running Hotter than Normal

I feel like my laptop is running much hotter than normal recently and was wondering how I could see it its running too hot or it is just in my head. Only thing major I've done is had my brother split my HD so I could run 32 bit Vista. I don't think this would change anything but certain portion of my laptop get really hot and I just want to make sure nothing if f'd up.

Anybody have any tips/info on how I can see if something is up? Thanks for any help, wish I was more of a techie.

if its running too hot, the processor would throttle.

If you are using a cooling pad and you blow out the fan regularly not much more you can do other than using utilities to manually control fan speed.

    If not, you probably should.

Specifically, you should use a can of compressed air to do this. Make sure you always hold the can upright (moving the laptop rather than the canister), and spray in short bursts instead of holding down the trigger. Aim the stream so it blasts dust out through the open vents, if at all possible, else you'll just be relocating it within the case.

If you play alot of games, you could also try replacing the thermal paste on your video card. My laptop was having the same issue at one point and when I went to replace the paste, it had solidified almost as hard as a rock. Since I swapped it out, I havn't had any issues. Only bad thing about replacing the paste though is that your laptop might have a "Void if removed" sticker placed on it like mine did but mine has been out of the warranty period for awhile.

This happens to me every year or so, I just take my laptop apart and compressed air the fans, the motherboard, and anything else that gets dusty. Here in arizona there is a shit ton of dust so I need to do it or my CPU starts running at like 80 Celsius

Well, during the spring a lot of people start with these kinds of problems. Ambient temperatures increase and thus so do our computers. As long as it's not on fire, you're fine.

(So basically, yes it's in your head)
