Kill them.
Kill them.
Did you even read the thread?
I'll break down the "facts" for you:Dispute what? You didnt state any facts to dispute. Only opinions:
"Fox news is more respectable than MSNBC and other news channels".
"Fox news has alot of liberal anchors" lolno.
"Fox news was said to be good by one democrat"
"Liberal media".
What exactly do you want me to dispute there?
That is like saying "I dont like apples", then asking us to dispute you.
1. Fox News, which has about three times the amount of viewers as MSNBC
2. is a more respected and respectable news outlet than MSNBC–to say nothing of CNN, ABC, CBS, and NBC.
evidenced by:
a) In 2008, the Democratic governor of Pennsylvania, Ed Rendell, said that “starting in Iowa and up to the present–Fox has done the fairest job, and remained the most objective of all the cable networks.”
b) Even Hillary Clinton agreed that Fox News had the fairest political coverage, citing an independent study showing that. Noting the “pattern of demeaning comments” made on NBC networks, Hillary remarked that MSNBC hadn’t issued apologies for commentary “that might have merited one.”
c) Instead of responding to the smashing success of Fox News by becoming more balanced and thereby winning more viewers,
d) Fox News has never been caught promoting a fraud–unlike CBS (Bush National Guard story), ABC (tobacco industry report), NBC (exploding GM trucks), CNN (Tailwind), and MSNBC (Keith Olbermann)
e) Airing 9 of the top 10 cable news shows (corrected by a poster as actually 11 of the top 12!)
Essentially, Fox News is more respected because.... Democrats say so (a governor and the beloved Hillary), studies say so, it has not been caught promoting a fraud, and it completely wins cable TV. I guess all those viewers don't "respect" Fox News. They're just watching it to laugh.
So when people like Keith Olbermann (see video i'll get to in a minute) and the New York Times paint Fox News as the devil it really does look like they're attacking a moderate establishment just because it is more conservative then they are, not meaning that it is a bible-preaching crazy-Republican network. Maybe theyre a little jelous of the ratings too.
I wonder how much Bill O'Reilly makes. I wonder how much Olbermann makes. I wonder how many books O'Reilly sells. I wonder how many book Olbermann sells (does he even have a book deal?)
Chris Wallace, Shep Smith, Greta Van Susteran, and Geraldo Rivera"Fox news has alot of liberal anchors" lolno.
Chris Wallace, Shep Smith, Greta Van Susteran, and Geraldo Rivera
Chris Wallace, Shep Smith, Greta Van Susteran, and Geraldo Rivera
I listed them. What now? You gonna say "lolno" again?
(Just because Greta Van Susteran isn't smokin' hot and she likes to show her teeth doesn't make her a conservative)
And probably all the daytime "news readers" arn't exactly right-wing political activists.
That was a boring watch. Basically Olbermann crying because Bill O'Reilly said some stuff he found offensive. That isn't what we call a "fraud".*cough*
YouTube - Olbermann on O'Reilly's Malmedy problems
1:33 onwards just in case you're lazy.
Examples of "fraud" include:
CBS (Bush National Guard story) - CBS rushed obviously fake documents to the airwaves in an act that lead to Dan Rather getting fired (bloggers exposed the documents as fake hours after they were aired on tv. seems like cbs could have done a little more before it hit the airwaves with bushbashing)
ABC (tobacco industry report) - American Broadcasting Cos. Inc. yesterday apologized to the nation's two largest tobacco companies by saying that the manufacturers do not add nicotine from outside sources to their cigarettes. ABC had to hit up Big Tobacco to get some ratings. They paid for it.
NBC (exploding GM trucks) - Where NBC Went Wrong The network suffers a humiliating bout of confessions and soul-searching after admitting it rigged the crash-and-burn of a GM truck
CNN (Tailwind) - Cable News Network on Thursday retracted its story that the U.S. military used nerve gas in a mission to kill American defectors in Laos during the Vietnam War.
and you have on video....
Fox News (O'Reilly Offends Traitor Keith Olbermann) - Video shows a crying Olbermann whining over Bill O'Reilly in a non-report that was not a case of investigative journalism but merely another one of his rants that MAKES FOX NEWS #1. Thanks for the ratings Olbermann. I guess it doesn't even matter if you're a fraud, you don't get viewers anyways.
Guess what, I have all the other major news networks admitting to intentionally misleading viewers against... Big Tobacco, the US government, General Motors, and George Bush.
Since when is lying on air, twice, not fraud?
And O'Reilly isn't misleading viewers into thinking that Americans committed atrocities during WWII to justify the actions of servicemen/women who participated in torture in Abu Grahib?Fox News (O'Reilly Offends Traitor Keith Olbermann) - derpderpderp
Guess what, I have all the other major news networks admitting to intentionally misleading viewers against... Big Tobacco, the US government, General Motors, and George Bush.
And I love how you still label people you disagree with 'traitors' because it's further evidence how full of shit you are when you attempt to claim some moral high ground in all arguments. It's either a very special case of retardation rattling around in your skull or A-class trolling.
CNN > FOX NEWS period! I like how down to earth everyone is, all FOX NEWS does is whine whine whine and Q_Q CUE_CUE.
I face palmed so hard at this thread.
We were talking about this at work today. The context wasn't Fox News but rather the ultra conservative people who troll the Washington Post. Actually, to call them conservative is an injustice. They're just hate mongers.
But the problem is that these instigators, be they FNC talking heads or anonymous internet trolls, are given free reign to spout nonsense and are never made accountable for it. They sensationalize each issue to promote their own agenda, and they move so quickly from issue to issue that the conversation has changed before the facts come out. They're living in the hysteria.
If your family just parrots this bullshit back to you, call them on it. Make notes of the things they say and write, and refute it once the facts come to light. It's not easy to do if you have the patience. Think of the hateful things you've heard hurled at muslims in the wake of 9/11, black people in the wake of Katrina, Asians in the wake of Va Tech, and illegals in the wake of everything (lol). Point out the specific things they were wrong about, and call them on their abject prejudice.
One of two things is going to happen. They're going to realize their own hypocrisy, or they're going to choose to continue to hate things they don't bother to investigate or understand. If they choose the latter, just fucking drop them. Life is too short to waste your time dealing with ignorant, hateful people.
Mildly off topic, but appropriate RealClearPolitics - Articles - Worry About the Right Things
If CNN Starts doing this =>Fox News' Female Short Skirts Get Ratings over CNN, then they can easily blow FOX NEWS out of the water.
Heidi Collins in the morning Kyra Phllips in the Noon time, Campbell-Brown at Suppa time, when legs are on CEE N N, you can have fun watching anytime!![]()
(pizza in the morning, pizza in the evening, pizza at suppa time, when pizza's on a bagel u can eat pizza anytime)
I'm not going to comment on whether or not O'Reilly was "misleading" viewers. I'm not a fan and I wasn't listening that closely. However, while you (and Olbermann) may be screaming fowl, he can lie all he wants (although im not convinced he lied here). The statements in question were not a) particularly controversial or b) not intentional "lies" (if they were lies at all)
Olbermann is just as guilty by comparing his comments to Owell's 1984. ITS A LIE!
His comments are about as binding as the editorial page of the New York Times. If those guys were bound by the rules of journalism, the Times wouldn't even be able to fake its neutrality anymore.
Oh, what happened to the rest of my post? I post a full page contradicting everything you said, point by point, and all you can do is point to O'Reilly and say "I don't like him. He lied."
Do you surrender?
Lead by example, sir. "Point out the specific things" as you say! That post was mighty vague.
Muslims - The last 19 murdered 3,000 people and you don't want to look at them a little closer when they board planes? Sounds almost as dumb as the FAA's "can only examine 2 muslims per flight... so when little girl and granny finally get through security, osama can walk right on board" policyThink of the hateful things you've heard hurled at muslims in the wake of 9/11, black people in the wake of Katrina, Asians in the wake of Va Tech, and illegals in the wake of everything
Black people - I don't know what you're referring to, but I find it hard to believe you can pin this on Republicans. After all, we freed the blacks!
Asians - Republicans love Asians. They can get into college without the affirmative action.
Illegals - People who can do twice the work for half the price are amazing. Who is complaining. Although we should deport, execute, or Gitmo the ones who come over and commit crimes. A small price to pay, however.
Moron.
You said: "Here's footage of O'Reilly doing just that."
I said: He wasn't defrauding people. He was playing political commentator and host, not "CNN Exclusive: US Government Murdering People" or "CBS Exclusive: Bush War Record A Fake!"
Where do you get your facts from. They didn't come from my post.
Leif, your title suits you.
Don't worry Leif, nobody gets any facts from anything you write.
Falsifying history is fraud. Bill O'Reilly lied twice about history to bolster some vague point about how it was wrong to publish pictures of Abu Grahib torture. That's fraud no mater how many quotation marks you put around it.
