I'm glad you bumped.. we need to do some major revisions here. You've got AMD processors matched up with Intel-spec motherboards, some outdated parts, etc. Let's take a look at that website and see what we can dig up.

I'm thinking a possible solution would be to get what you can from your local shop and get the rest from online vendors.

i suggest you get that from there instead lol and if at all possible try to match the parts i suggested with newegg prices, chances are they are gonna be much lower but idk if the shipping and handling would keep you within your budget.

EDIT: I'm a noob when it comes to shipping, I don't know when they charge extra for stuff other than what's the initial shipping cost on the website, like when I guitar hero 1 was not available anywhere near I ordered from the US and I had to pay an additional 50$ for shipping plus the 15$ base shipping cost.

since you ordered it from a US site you probably had to pay extra for international shipping charges since it has to pass through your customs...so yeah buy locally or from .ca sites onry to avoid extra S&H fees XD

Ok here goes, I busted budget like 100$ but I guess I can deal with it as long as you guys say this is a decent build, superior to what Kiira or Olo410 proposed, or else i'll stick to theirs.

So, to have a completed and working PC, I would need a new HDD, wireless internet thing to connect to router (are these things bad for gaming? Should I stick to wired?), sound card, dvd player... and that's about it, or am I forgetting something? (beside OS)

uhh i think that cpu is a step back from the x3 i listed above there and that case ur gonna order is gonna push up the shipping cost lol cause of size and weight D:

thats pretty much what you got cept i replaced the cpu with the one i recommended a couple posts up

===edit=== with that case the shipping is around 70+ bucks if you cant spare anymore for the other parts you can just reuse the ones you have now in ur current PC (HDD optical drives what ever pci cards you might wanna reuse wired/wireless network cards).

As for CPU, GTA IV specs are recommending at least 2.6 GHz so I figured it would be best to go with that, but I guess I could just wait a few more weeks and get an extra 200-300 bucks budget for this.

I "think" everything up there works together but I can't say for sure so if anyone could tell before I throw monies out the window, thanks.

Total: 748$, but that's for a full PC minus the case, I would use my own soundcard, OS and dvd player since this one is going to go to a 4 years old that don't have much use for one lol.

Nowadays, how would you rate this PC on a 10 scale? Could it run stuff like assasin's creed or GTA IV on any settings, or FFXI and battlefield 2 highest settings? Maybe even a little registry tweaking for FF?

I'm guessing GTA IV's specs meant a single-core Pentium 4 2.6gHz, which it pretty much beaten by everything on the market today save some Celerons & Semprons. When you get beyond that it becomes how good your video configuration is and how it's tweaked.

I have some ways to save you money here also.. bear with me.

CPU : Good choice on the Phenom x4 9850. Let's keep that.
Mobo: Another good choice.
Memory: You don't have to go for the performance kit, especially since G.Skill usually has a heat spreader on all their memory. Use this kit and save 14 dollars.
Video Card: Here we went from the low end to a high-end card that's not just overkill but might hurt your system performance unless you run a 64-bit OS. Let's cut a nice $80 chuck off your costs and get the 512MB version.
HD : 250GB is not much these days - I made the same mistake when I bought one last year and now I need a second HD. Let's go with a 750GB drive for an extra $20.

Add the wifi adapter you picked and we've got a running total so far of ~$656. Now let's see here.. a 430W Power Supply for $45 and a good basic case for $49 and we're done.

Edit: The CPU you picked is an OEM version, which means it doesn't come with a heatsink or fan. This is a really good one and it's only $25.
Also you don't necessarily need a quad-core. You can get the Athlon 64 x2 7850 and save about $60.


You'll need to pay some shipping and taxes, but the one good thing about Newegg (US or Canada) is they offer free shipping on many items.

As for the power supply, the requirements of the graphic card you suggested me suggest this:

500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connectors recommended
I'll probably just try to find that and a case at a local shop because I don't want astronomical shipping fees.

For the heatsink, the one you proposed does not seems to support phenom X4, so I picked this one instead.

When you see "You save" without the Instant rebate thing attached, it means the cost is auto-figured to that price listed. No rebate needed.

Yeah, that was a high end card for sure.

HDDs are eh. Seagate or Western Digital are both good IMO. I know there's a 640GB HDD Western Digital for about 75 bucks that's 32 MB Cache. If I can find it, I'll link you to it.

From what friends are telling me, it's good to go 500W or higher in most cases. There's an Antec 500W Power Supply on newegg that might help ya. It's 69.99$ in American. Not sure about Canada.

Case wise.. why not try the Antec 300? It seems good. Heatsinks I don't know about. D:

The CPU doesn't matter when it comes to fitting an aftermarket cooler - the socket does. And AMD's sockets have all been the same size/config for a loooong time (939, 940/AM2, AM2+ & AM3 are almost exactly the same, just some changes to pin config I believe) so any cooler you see that says Athlon, Phenom, Sempron, or Opteron will fit.
