I think it greatly depends on how you were raised. I mean a child raised in a Catholic God fearing family will always believe in God/Jesus because it's been instilled in them since they were small.

Whereas a child raised by his parents to keep an open mind is probably more likely to believe in things that can't be proven etc.

My parents last house was haunted. I lived in the downstairs "Maids Quarters", and sometimes at night I would here someone whispering my name in my ear. I would turn over and see nothing. The voice was clear when saying my name, it felt almost electric, and really close to my face. This would happen at least once a week. At first I thought it was my sister or brother(although it was a girl voice), so one time I leaped out of bed after hearing it turned on all the lights in the entire house, went to everyone's room and turned on the lights and everyone was asleep until I woke them up.

Once my puppy ran out of my house, so I went to my room to put my shoes on. I had a couple friend in my room with me, so I get one shoe on, and suddenly the door to my house opens my dog walks into the house and the door closes. I get up to open the door to see who was there, and the door was locked. I unlock it and walk out and walk out into the street, and there is nobody there. My friends got really freaked out and left.

The TV in the house would turn on and off. The volume knob would turn up all the way, you could see the knob moving by itself. Outside we would see a kid running by, it was always out of the corner of your eye, we would go outside and there was no kid, and the dog would start barking at the sky.

Turns out the family that lived there before us had a little girl that drowned in the upstairs bathroom. We had a priest come and "bless" the house, but it didnt work. I moved out as soon I could.

Won't believe it till I see it! Although i think its mostly, the imagination running wild, sort of like a "day dream", that could take over while your awake and make you see odd things/ have a sensation of thinking something off is happening.

Like when I was little I was afraid of the dark, so anywhere it was dark I'd imagine nightmarish things. I still to this day do sometimes and would freakout to turn on a light really quick or something.

hearing footsteps then seeing a door open and close on its own with everyone asleep scared the shit out of me when i stayed the night over at a friends house back in middle school.

I will never forget that night. My friends mom brought me home at 2 in the morning because I wouldn't stay there any longer after that experience.

I have yet to see a ghost, but I would have to observe one to actually believe. I can relate though and am interested in the subject nonetheless.

I still tell everyone to this day that when I was 11 I was sitting on the couch watching Porkys 2 (yeah that was porn back in the day) and I swear to Bob I saw a fucking Leprechaun run across the my living room floor. Yes, it was short and green and very fast and scared me shitless.

Back when I was probably 7 or 8 at the church I used to go to, there was this torn down stone building. It was fantasy like, something you'd see in a game. If you've ever played Diablo II the Countess' tower in the Black Marsh is exactly wut this building looked like.

Anyway every night after church all the kids would go out and play and the adults would stay and chit chat and do adult stuff while we were pwnin tag or something. Anyway around the same time every night a bright orange light would appear in one of the structured rooms in the torn up building. Every single night.

One 'day' before church my 2 brothers their friends and I got the balls to go into it and went all the way to the very top. Inside the room was a small wooden box and nothing else. I've always thought about that place ever since I moved away.

I've seen/heard them as a child, strangest was when I saw a friends grandfather behind him in a science lab back when I was 10. Freaked out an entire class when I mentioned it.

Last time I heard one was in Uni. There was a graveyard across the road from my halls and one of the kids buried there would knock on the doors every now and then.

Yes, I know what you're thinking. But I lived across from the main door and next to the stairs. I could see the entire hall, no one could've knocked on the door and ran off without me seeing or hearing them.


I still remain pretty sceptical whenever someone goes on about them though. People are so fucking stupid and impressionable they'll see shit in anything.

Case in Point: a group of locals recently went up to the old WWII tunnels on a ghost hunt and they all swear there are ghosts in their photos.

Seriously, there was a shadow in their photo which was taken inside a tunnel with no ambient light, high humidity, and over 80 people armed with flash cameras and flashlights. Must be a ghost bro! No other explenation for that shadow.

And all the noise in the pictures taken by shit, cheap ass cameras still on the "outdoors" setting/exposure?

Where my wife and I live there's a church that is annually listed as one of the most haunted places in Pittsburgh that is literally down the hill from us. St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church is supposedly haunted by a former pastor there. I've never seen anything but I would love to just chill out there one night.

When I was younger, I saw a gray figure by my bed. It disappeared, but then I saw a huge hand outside my window signaling me to come to it. I got so scared that I jumped out of my bed and ran to my grandmother's room.

Of course, that was probably just hypnagogia, but when you're a kid, you don't think things through like that. This was the first time I've ever had a hypnagogic hallucination without being in sleep paralysis. And plus I felt like I was wide awake, but apparently I wasn't.

My buddy has sleep paralysis fairly often. He tells us it's the most horrifying thing you could ever possibly experience. He wakes up and he simply can't move. But the problem is that when he's in this state he also hallucinates and sees shit like shadow people and ghostlike figures standing around him etc. His girl actually started setting up a camcorder when he slept to see if she could catch it to show his doctor. They were able to so of course being the good friends that we are, we watched it. It was fucking weird. He slept the whole night through and whenever it started getting light out all of a sudden his eyes just blasted wide open like he had been shot. It was seriously disturbing to watch because his eyes were open and you could see them darting around the room focusing on things. His throat kept moving like he was trying to scream but no sound came out.

Needless to say, none of us wanted to see that video ever again and we all felt terrible for him.
