Taking over Newbie Zones

Hi all,

Are there any forums/channels to chime in on to see if there will be planned takeovers of Saru/Gustberg/Ronfaure by nations other than the default home nation?

I can think of two ways of going about this:

A) Execute the takeover yourself (yes, solo) by trading millions of gil worth of items to the OP NPC. This has been done many times, but it isn't cheap.

B) Create tons of mules on many different servers. Each week, check each server for takeovers. Transfer your main character to that server and grab the OP.

I seem to recall option A being modified so that only certain items can be traded now. Was I dreaming? Sorry, couldn't find the info on wiki for which items can be traded...

A long time ago there was a patch that causes a diminishing return on trading items. As a result you will find that as you trade in your hundreds of NQ elemental staves and other items, your nation will gain influence rapidly at first, but then the pace will slow down quite a bit. This has NOT stopped people from soloing their own takeovers, but again it is expensive and you should try researching the topic a bit more. I believe some people have posted threads indicating how much gil this has cost them.

Most people stage their takeovers shortly before the conquest tally. The last thing you want is to build up a big influence, lose it, and then try to regain it with only the diminished returns in effect.

I believe you can trade any item as long as it meets both of these criteria:
-It is a piece of equipment
-It can be sold to an NPC

Someone(s) on Valefor seems to be doing the OP takeovers. Few weeks ago Sandy took Sarutabaruta, then Windy took Ronf, and now this week Sandy took Gustaberg.

Best part is, each time they've been second in conquest so swapping nations isn't too expenisve.

Organize it with your LS, or shout for it in Whitegate. I see it happen about once a year on Ragnarok, and I took advantage of it when it happened in 2004.

No, each nation has its own set of completed outposts recorded for you.

Oh, I've never switched and thought it was cumulative. I guess this is why it isn't.

My linkshell is organizing a Gustaberg takeover for this summer. We're gonna head out with our lowest-level characters and fight mobs. When some people level too high, they'll be synched down with someone who's still at level 10.

Taking Gustaberg should be easy for us since we have about 60%+ Windurst members.

Cluster all the mob in the starting zone, use level 1 or so SMN mule, flow them.

Or do an Astral Flow sync party at a normal location that won't piss off everyone else trying to level 1-10.

AHHHHHHHHHHH This is what happened! I was wondering how that happened lol. It was totally sweet, now I have all OPs. Btw, didnt they make it so you dont loose OPs when you change nations?

They made it so that when you switch back, you still have the OPs you got.

Before it was like this:

Get OPs -> Transfer Nation -> You have no OPs -> Transfer back to the original -> You still have no OPs.

Now it's like this:

Get OPs -> Transfer Nation -> You have no OPs -> Transfer back to the original -> You still have your OPs from that nation.
