Was doing some turtle KS99's trying to get some LS monks Eggs (no luck T.T), I was out as the back up Pld... but SS (our big Garka) is really good, on top of having 1600 Hp... he doesn't need back up very often.

I got bored and swapped to DD gear, started building hate and poking Tartaruga with Atonements, which actually got nukes lobbed at me for the last few fights when I was doing it.

SO much nicer than just flashing when SS stopped for shadows/curing Blm's to keep a hate buffer up.

I leveled DRK to 72 cause I got Oclub. It's a toy, and a joke to me cause I never use it. As a WHM and SCH, I'm never going to even dedicate much time to even level SAM sub for it.

I know a DRK who is 100% Great Sword. Since I didn't give a damn about my own DRK (to be honest, I am lucky it never ended up in the gimp thread), I'm wondering what the appeal of Gsword is, because I'm pretty sure the justification is "It looks better", which I do concur with (Ascalon is the only weapon outside of Oclub I have...) but it seems to be non-standard by a huge stretch.

gsword on drk is more for HNM's and anything that has high evasion since you can spam 1 hit WS's. and we all know the bonuses of that.

in a exp pty, scythe will typically give you better averages as far as DoT/ws averages go. Guillo will generally give you higher peaks and averages. but GS in merits can be ok too, since it will usually be more consistent.

Scythe = using regens, the smallest cure that will fit the damage you're healing, maximizing your general contribution over a long period of time.

Gsword = using C5's, all the time, one trick pony, but it does it really well.

Cool, thanks. I've never really been in an LS with a main DRK and was quite surprised. That all makes sense, I guess I'll level my GS when the skillup anniversary bonus hits.

had a drk in a few of my last shells. He looked at it like this, Zeid, the DRK npc, used a GSword, therefore, SE meant it to be this way, so it was superior.

Yeah, just forgot to add in Resentment for signet areas. Once you reach 25% cap, don't you start stacking MDB as well? If so, DRK has access to Iron Ram gear, Lamian Kaman and Mantle.

Edit: I realize SAM has access to Kaman and Mantle as well, was mentioning IR due to it being one of the three jobs able to use the gear.

Either MDB, or if you have an item with for more elemental resist in a spot, go for it.. i tank as nin, thus dont have access to much MDB gear. as such, i am slapping on either gear with a high resist+.

On the side note of the War vs Sam vs Drg vs Drk vs Mnk... they all bow down to Ninja with an 1100+ Jin, mwahahahaha

I dont think anyone here has given Drg enough credit througout and any Drg who has lost parse at Colibri isnt worth the air that they are breathing.

I have never lost a meripo at Colibri and have outparsed completely decked out non relic War, Drk and Sam even at Mamools. Drakesbane changed everything for us. In free TP situations like Ein Dyna & Merit we are complete monsters when geared and played right.

Drakesbane is indeed utter pwn, I'd rank it in the best 5 non-Relic WSes in the game

Gekko, Slugwinder, Atonement, DB, and the 5th varies for me, I'd say Steel due to sentimental factors, but Spinning Slash can outdo it in the right scenario, as can KJ and RR, but when it comes to raping hard targets, SC has the most consistent punch through that I've personally played with, but then again, I love my break WSes too

due to the combination of gear options/piercing bonus/A+ weapon/4 hit crit with 50% Str mod and to top it off, it's got great skillchain properties.

Also, god I wish I was on Ifrit. My SAM isn't even finished yet, but I'd love to go against a relic that isn't halfassed, which Fairy lacks. I can't wait for that backlash.
