Pretty sure Mencia isn't even mexican... he was born in Honduras, and lives in L.A.
And I'm pretty sure his real first name is......Ned.

Sad that I haven't seen Sam Kinison mentioned yet. You let me down, BG
I love Demitri Martin. Might have spelled his first name wrong. I'd find some clips on youtube, but it's blocked on this network at school.
cosby annoys me, but he makes good material i.e. Eddie murphy's take on Bill cosby in Raw...that shit was legendary
Tell Bill Cosby I said suck MY dick!
how are people even mentioning demitiri martin hes fucking garbage and i get offended everytime i saw that commercial on comedy central saying his show was the best sketch show ever
i guess they forgot about chappelle since he isnt making them money anymore
fuck saget katt williams dane cook and mencia the latter 2 are joke theives
I like a lot of the suggestions here, just want to add Ricky Gervais. I enjoyed a lot of his HBO special, but I think it might be a little dry for some people. You'll either love it or turn it off 10 minutes in out of boredom, but it's definitely worth checking out.
Holy shit, yes! He hasn't done a ton of material, but his delivery is one of the best I've ever seen.
Also, Louis C.K., Daniel Tosh, David Cross (some of his political stuff annoys me, but overall he's great), and, of course, Bill Hicks.
Why is Denis Leary popular? Because there's No Cure for Cancer.
His Asshole song is a classic!
YouTube - Denis Leary's Asshole song (uncensored)
Also, I'm surprised at no mention of George Lopez.
Demetri Martin is seriously unfunny
Dood seriously, seriouly dood Eddie Izzard
I listen to standup everynight while I go to sleep. Have for a long long time. I probably have about 50 albums worth of material on my phone. Some of my favorites:
Daniel Tosh - True Stories I made up
Jim Gaffigan - King Baby
Mitch Hedberg - Do you believe in gosh, Mitch All TOgether, and Strategic grill locations
Nick Swardson - Party
Patton Oswalt - Werewolves and Lollipops and Feelin' Kinda Patton
Ron White - Behaviorial Problems
Russel Brand - Find any of his live Standup, it's fucking hilarious
this whole post, i loved them all (not ron white as much but he was still ok)Daniel Tosh - True Stories I made up
Jim Gaffigan - King Baby

mike birbiglia (sp?), daniel tosh, were funny new ones
dane cook i always thought used to be funny, his first comedy central presents standup was great but after a while he just kinda.... sold out and his material was repetitive
i never understood why people thought katt williams was so funny, the guy is mentally unstable and it shows in his standup. I always found it obnoxious. And for that matter there are few black comedians i ever found funny, they played their card out and its not funny anymore "Man... all white people be all like "Insert blank" and black people be all like HUHHH???"fuck saget katt williams dane cook and mencia the latter 2 are joke theives
It's the newest Ron White. I didn't find a lot of his older stuff that funny, but this new album is pretty good.
It honestly depends on your type of humor. Some comedians have a special gift to hit many different styles in a single routine, but its rare. I personally like about anything.
Some favorites are in no order:
Brian Regen - This is a guy you have to watch to really get his humor. Very physically facial oriented disoreintated comedy.
Jim Gaffigan- if you are a fat lazy bastard, he will tell you about your life, in great detail.
Mike Armstrong- A former police officer with great ways of dealing with criminals/family, same thing right?
Gabriel Inglesias- hot and fluffy, again if you are a fat lazy bastard, you will learn of another fat bastards exploits.
Dave Attel (Skanks for the memories)- first comedy album i ever bought, well worth it. Kind of crude, but this is BG general discussion, so....
Greg Hahn- Needs serious preparation to truely appreciate it. Silly physical one liners very fast.
Zach Galifinacus galikinocus littering and littering and....- i thought the piano would make him not funny, it didnt.
Maria Bamford- weird voices put to odd scenarios.
Christopher Titus- Like watching a movie. Excellent story teller, you almost forget youre watching stand up
Stephen Wright- The original Mitch Hedberg. Slow steady jokes. Takes time to warm up but hilarious
Rodney- Wont even put his last name in there, if you pick the wrong one, fuck you.
Chappelle- Killing them softly is one of my favorite routines of all time. Some of the greatest call backs ever.
Dana Carvey- She bought some broccoli.
Heywood Banks- singing comedian. some notable songs; The one eye love, famous dead guys, yeah toast, big butter jesus.
Will stop here, go find, make funny.
Stephen Wright very very much.
