    X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Anyone else have this? I got around to picking it up today after seeing a lot of positive reviews from other gamers despite the mediocre scores it received from websites and it's actually quite fun.

The biggest complaint is that it's repetitive due to it being a hack and slash game which is retarded because nobody complains as much about the repetitiveness in other games like FPS or racing for example.

Any fan of Wolverine or action games should give it a look, I haven't finished it but from what I've read it takes over 10 hours to complete. This game is all about decimating anyone in your path and you're encouraged to kill everyone in the most brutal way possible given your deadly arsenal of attacks and the ability to use the environment to kill your enemies. Chopping off heads and limbs is pretty badass but it's downright funny to impale your enemies onto tree branches or forklifts.

Health is managed pretty well in this game, once it fully depletes your vital organs are exposed and you become vulnerable to death. The health bar regenerates after a while as does the damage to your body, so you can put yourself into a situation where your body has been burnt and shredded with bullets exposing your ribs and skull and you can watch the muscle and skin eventually regrow. In a weird sort of way, the damage system encourages you to play with reckless abandon in order to see just how fucked up you can make Wolverine look.

Wolverine also has the ability to lunge at his enemies from far away and then stab them to death, it's pretty cool but at the same time it makes dealing with enemies a lot easier. You can take little to no damage from just lunge spamming a group of enemies instead of taking them head on, but doing the latter results in more bloodshed and Wolverine getting cuts and holes in him for the sake of seeing him in a shit condition.

A word of warning for anyone playing or wanting to play the game. If you're keen on completing trophies or achievements get them all out of the way before you play Hard mode (which unlocks after you beat the game) as changing the difficulty erases all of your stats.

An example of how violent the game is

I downloaded the demo of the game and I have to admit the lunge thing is rather broken especially when it came to Machete Champions. Then again the game sold itself when Wolverine lunged at the helicopter just to beat out the window and stick the pilot's head in the rotors.

I'd generally say to not trust "official" reviews anymore since they base the scores on how well they get sponsored by the company in addition to the actual score a game should receive.

Generally that is my rule too euph, but after playing the 360 Demo I may have to at least Gamefly this. As short as the demo was, it still left me feeling more satisfied than the movie did...

the game was actually in development before the movie was, they spent like 2.5 years making it, not the usual 9month movie timespan they get
