Man don't buy an Alienware.
That said if you're heart's set on one FFXI is what 5 years old? Any decent laptop with a dedicated video card should be able to run it without hassle. I think the only real issues are with GeForce 8 series cards and the Sticky should have more info on that particular issue.
Well those and the FFXI system crapshoot. You could probably load FFXI on two identical systems and have it perform completely different.
awww okay. Thanks. I guess I'll get another laptop from hp <3! My laptop is okay for the game as of now, but I just want a better one cause I'm having some few problems on mine as of now T_T

Thanks for the help : )
I didn't see this mentioned anywhere in the Nvidia driver thread, but Nvidia released new laptop drivers not too long ago that seem to have fixed the extreme lag problem on my 8600M card. Uninstalled my modded desktop drivers that I was using and installed the official Nvidia ones and all seems to be working fine now.
For reference, I'm running a Geforce 8600M on Vista 64-bit.
Currently running the 182.50 driver released on Apr. 2nd.
Not to say this isn't a non-issue anymore for anyone else, but seems to have worked for me as I don't get the extreme lag anymore.
occasionally they run a deal on alienware that isnt as overpriced as usual, and they arent that bad of a cpu ;p
FFXI is CPU based. Better CPU = better performance.
