Oh yeah, his helmet and armor was great. Was that him talking to Tyrion the next morning? The guy was missing half his hair and his face looked fine.

Only thing I really disliked was the consummation of the marriage at the end. You don't get the gentler side of Drogo that we get to see in the book, nor Daenerys warming to him.

Upon 2nd viewing, I think I saw the maester's chain. In this it's not so much tight around their neck as it is a loose kinda necklace thing going on. Weird change.

Not too different, she basically accepted it the first night but she cried every time they did it for that entire book. She didn't start to love him for a while.

This is going to be beyond epic. Ned, Jon, and Tyrion stole the show for sure. They did an amazing job with the casting; spot on with Benjen in this episode.

The Hound's face is pretty badly burnt from pictures I've seen(ofc I can't find them now). It was just hard to see in that scene at the end with Tyrion.

Ya that was my only gripe as well. They should have made Drogo get all sensual on her and shown Dany getting all hot and heavy.

Now that I think back on it, women were considered chattel and treated as such. Drogo is a brute and again I guess in the books she "gives" consent as expected, but it's still rape in the regard that she's only doing it for fear of waking the dragon. Plus I think she kind of has some stockholm syndrome shit going on, it's not until later on does that relationship change.

Women were definately treated as such, but Drogo wasn't on their wedding night. He caressed her and massaged her for like an hour before even touching her boobs. Then everytime he moved closer he kept asking "No?" In the end Dany took his hand and put it inside her and said "Yes." So it was pretty consensual that night.

W/e, they'll build Drogo up to be a good guy in their own way over time. It probably would have been too big of a jump to see Dany embrace him so quickly in the same episode. In the books we had chapters and chapters of Dany's character development on how scared she was etc before the marriage. It was a twist for her to act that way because it jumped out of character. In an episode where we saw her for 3 minutes, her acting like she wanted it so quick would have seemed like she wanted it all along. I don't mind so much in retrospect.

Agreed with Palin. I def trust HBO on this, I was a little startled at first at how they did the scene as well but they know what they are doing, i am sure when she falls in love with him it will come across as believable

Never read the books, but the episode was very good imo. Really looking forward to next week. It's prolly to early to tell, but how closely do they seem to be following the books? It's funny, I always wanted the Sword of Truth books to me made into a tv show on HBO (because I knew it was the only channel that could do the books justice), and watching how gritty this is it only proves my point correct
