I'm curious how much time passes in between books, (I have not read them) does the 2nd book pick up right at the end of the first book? If so, have they already filmed all the seasons? The reason I ask is I don't want them to have problems with children actors like other shows have (Lost) with the kids growing up and not fitting into their roles. 4 years is a lot of time for kids, there is a huge difference in looks from 12 to 16 and I would hate for them to replace the kid actors every season because the original kids grew to much in between seasons.

There's no time jump between any of the books so far, including the 5th coming out in July.

I think that's one of the reason they aged up the kids in the film too, outside of the youth factor in rape/sex/marriage.

The books take place over 2-3 years currently. Time between each is minimum.

Well if 3 years has passed between all 4 books, I guess it will not be that bad to have the kids age 4 years between 4 seasons. Let's just hope none of them have super growth spurts between one of the seasons like the kid from Lost.

Omg... at first I was watching, thinking the whole time "man what the fuck is this cliff hanger everyone is going crazy over". Then they show Khal giving his speech and I'm like "show almost over...this isn't that big a deal". Then Nedd is walking and they say "King Joffry requests your presence", and my eyes went O_O.

I'm still confused though, I thought Robert's letter made it so that Nedd was king until Joffrey came of age any ways. What was all this about Stannis becoming King, Renly trying to become king, etc etc.

When King Robert died, his son is to take the thrown. If the son cannot take the thrown, for whatever reason, the throne goes to the eldest brother (Stannis). Well, Renly doesn't think Stannis is a capable king, so he wants the throne. So now you have Joff, Stannis, and Renly all wanting the throne, with Stannis being the "true" heir.

Ned didn't write it the way Robert said it. Ned wrote he'd serve as regent until his rightful heir (not son) came along. Renly was going with what Ser Loras tried to tell him during the super homo scene, that he should be king because he'd be a good King. Even if his claim isn't legitimate.

My confusion came from Nedd even considering Stannis or Renly. He was supposed to be king until he could get one of the bastard kids in place. As far as he knows, this plan was going to go through, so why waste time on Stannis or Renly?

Also, I miss the Tyronne. Man, I really don't want to start reading the books cause I like watching it in live action, but this week wait is excruciating. The wait for next season is going to kill me...

Wait what? I don't believe he was ever considering Gendry or the other royal bastards, they would have even less of a claim than Renly. Stannis, according to laws of succession is the legal heir, as failing a trueborn son it passes to the eldest surviving brother.
