Why exactly did Barristan go along with Cersei so easily? I thought he was the same sort as Ned, honor before reason. Expected him to follow the King's final wishes and side with Ned especially after Cersei tore it up.

Possibly because he believes Joffery to be the rightful king and can be convinced that Ned is a traitor along those lines. I think there was more in the book that either they skipped over or will be in the next episode concerning Ned's treasonous activities.

Also, he's one dude in a room full of fighting men loyal to Cersei. What would you do in that situation?

Nobody aside Ned, and the obvious ppl, know that Joffrey isn't the kings heir. That's why it looks like Ned committed treason, and Cercie is riding that train. And all of the kings guard owe fealty to the king, irregardless of who that person may be. So right when Robert died their allegiance goes 100% to Joffrey (unless they know otherwise)

It's just a piece of paper, and Ned was alone with Robert when he dictated it. He could of forged it and he did change some words that Robert said.

In the book I believe that Selmy, Renly, and I want to say Pycelle as well, were all present for when Robert dictated the paper. I wonder why they changed that bit. It doesn't seem that important. I suppose to make it look more dubious?

Nope, book was the same as the show, just Ned and Robert.

??? it happened exactly the same in the book as in the show. Those three were in the room along with Cersei but he told them all to leave and they did when Ned was writing the Decree.

I found the bit. You're right, they weren't there when he dictated it, but two came back to witness it:

King Robert did not seem to miss her. He bid his brother Renly and Grand Maester Pycelle to stand in witness as he pressed his seal into the hot yellow wax that Ned had dripped upon his letter. "Now give me something for the pain and let me die."

It's on page 505-506 of the second edition of the British paperback publication.

Yeah they don't show the sealing in the show probably for time as it would be weird to then have to wait for Renly to come back out to talk to Ned about taking Joffrey. In the book Renly doesn't leave the room with Ned and it's implied some time passes between when Ned leaves and when Renly finally catches up to him. In any case it's not a big deal as Renly isn't present when the seal is broken and Pycelle isn't going to side with Ned.

Yeah that's how I remember it, they were only witnesses to the sealing. Though the way it was written, I think it was pretty clear to them and anyone else who knew of the sealed note that it was a decree to make Ned Lord protector.

He couldn't have forged it with the witnesses (not seen in the show I guess), but that's pretty much a moot point because no one actually even questioned the legitimacy of the note. I think the more important factor is that, when talking of Selmy's loyalties as a Kingsguard, the young King still takes precedence over the lord protector, particularly when the lord protector makes such treasonous claims.
