You do realize as technology advances, sound becomes less grainy and higher quality. Its literally the same guy, Jon St. John. The reason why he sounded so muffled in 3D was due to the game limitation at that time.

Game looks outrageous, as long as gameplay doesn't suck it looks to be a lot of fun.

I hope that some stuff taken from that trailer Qai posted is early footage (though I wouldn't know why), because in that helicopter / gatling gun looks scene where he is blowing up stuff on the bridge.. it looks like N64 graphics lol. Aside that, it looks really good for being in development for so long.. I wasn't expecting the engine to look as up-to-date
