I met someone in the game as well. It didn't work out in the end, but it changed my life and the made me the person I am today, and I used to laugh at people even flirting online in the game as a joke.

I've told my teachers countless times that I left an assignment in my mog house without realizing what I was saying. Also I was supposed to write a paper on video game addictions, but I didn't write it because I was too busy messing around with AV during the week that it was zergable.

Since I'm engaged people love to ask how my fiance and I met..I tend to lie at first and say we came out here because of him getting a job here. Of course women can be so annoying and pry and pry to get all the details which make me stumble a lot.

Once I get to know the person though I'll admit the true story. I get mixed reactions when they finally find out.

Iono why I don't want to tell people. The big thing is people at work (like when I was applying for jobs). I have in my head that if I admit I'm in Cali because I met someone through and MMO, they'd think I must be really weird, or won't stay in Cali long, therefore not hire me.

I don't really find it hard telling people if they ask, I actually find it easy to tell people that we met online. It's when they start asking questions, telling them that it was through a game, and that I flew a few thousand miles by myself & it was my first time out of the country always seems to get a couple of reactions but never anything bad.

I figure it makes for an interesting story rather than the old "friday night in a club blah blah" Not that there's anything wrong with that but yeah!

On a more serious note, my ex-wife cheated on me with some guy in FFXI (he was in our linkshell, actually) and went off to live with him.
I'm currently getting divorced.

I took a two week vacation from work and decided to do nothing but play this game. In the middle of the second week I was hospitalized with a leg infection stemming from poor circulation of my lower limbs. I had been sitting inactive for so long that my lymph system didn't remove the toxins from my legs. I spent a week in the hospital receiving antibiotics via an IV. But I took my laptop with me so my two week vacation turned into almost three weeks and I played FFXI in the hospital. I figured if I was going to get any worse I was in the best place for that to happen.

Weird thing: English is not my main language (I'm italian), yet by using it a lot in FF, I often find myself thinking in English... and replying to people in English if I'm focused on something else.
