ok so.. out of nowhere i got invited to go on a cruise for this sunday. i havent been on a cruise in 6 years, and don't really remember much about them....

If you've been on a cruise recently, what did you take, what would you bring with you if you went on a second one?

all i really plan on bringing is-
SUNTAN LOTION
clothes
swim trunks
flippy floppies
dress clothes(for that dress night thing)
water bottles filled with vodka
ipod
phone
ds



basically, i'm just looking for all-out advice on it. halp me bg

I've done like 4 Caribbean cruises with Royal Caribbean, hoping to do an Alaskan or Hawaiin one in the next couple years.

Bring your license and passport then lock them up in your room safe, especially if you're leaving the country at all. Bring cash for casino if you gamble (they charge a lot to take money out on your card).

Edit - also cash for tips when out on excursions, camera, Dramamine if you get sea sick.

Cruises are 21-only to gamble I think (mine was, but they didn't have Craps so meh). I took a Holland America cruise ship from Seattle to Alaska two summers ago with 45 members of my extended family (I have a big family) as a reunion thingy. It was a blast. Do shore excursions, as many as you can afford. Also be prepared, you will probably weigh 10 lbs. more than you do now when you return. Holy shit do they feed the fuck out of you, but it's pretty fantastic food.

Actually, I think the age limit depends on the waters you are sailing in. I remember being 18 and being allowed to gamble when I took a cruise to Mexico. As soon as we were a certain distance off of land, they opened up the casino.

Lots and lots of chewable dramamine. I offset the drowsiness with red bull personally but that's up to you to bring heavy cans of caffeine along with you.

If you expect to carry around a lot of cash I recommend a money belt, but if you're not a seasoned traveller and don't get out of the country much it's probably not worth the investment.

*EDIT* At least it was on all five cruises I've been on, double-checking my facts and apparently cruise lines are able to set their own minimum, but 18 is/was the minimum for NCL and Holland-America.
