Great game. One of my favorite video games. Still have the original ps version. Everyone should play it as a requirement.

There's actually a really good reason Emeralda's omnigear was never implemented. Emeralda was an artificially created life-form, made from nanomachines. Her DNA wouldn't have had the necessary genes for Deus compatibility, therefore making it impossible for her to align with an Anima Relic.
FYI: There's also concept art for Maria's omnigear Seibzehn. Why it wasn't implemented I can't say for sure but Seibzehn was already at omnigear strength anyways.
I haven't been excited about a final fantasy since FFX. The stories are starting to run together too much for my taste. I can tolerate tactics, but only because I don't consider it to be Final Fantasy.
I approve of this post. Very few games these days rarely come close to the epicness of Xenogears. Not bad considering it wasn't the creator's full intent.
FF12 was horrible.... I have EXTREMELY high hopes for 13 though...can't wait for the shit
Story fell flat for me in FFXII but the gameplay made up for it x10
I have really high hopes for the battle system in FFXIII after FFXII though, FF has always put new shit into old shit very well imo and FFXII was in a totally different direction(for a console FF @least) so I'm hoping for the same kind of old+new gameplay
I'd paint Xenogears story line as massive as the StarWars story, you can literaly spend hours talking about a specific scene. Story so deep I had to play it 3 times to fully understand every single piece of the game.
You have got to be kidding me. Not only was the story basic as 1st grade, the gameplay was mindless and uninspiring. You could just auto-attack through basically the entire game, and the computer doing most of it for you. It was the worst of the "major" FF games 1-12 there was.
I have absolutely no idea how Famitsu gave it a perfect, or how there was such a huge following for it on this forum.
Maybe it was just partly the newer generation of RPGers whom started with FF 10 + this RPG-deprived last 3-4 years which forced people to believe they liked the game.
Edit - As an example, I had a college roommate who said it was the best GAME he had ever played, yet he has never played FF 6, FF 7, Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, etc, which is simply ludacris.
Really, if you felt FF12 too easy, your gambits were probably set up too well. Something I'd expect an avid RPGer, but maybe not the casuals. I'll agree the story was kinda bleh, though. Couldn't help but feel like 1/4 was cut off, likely due to budget/time.
Another FFXII arguement? and lol @ saying people who like FFXII have never played an old school/good RPG. I loved XII and I've played all of the games you mentioned and a whole lot more. It's just different people with different taste. The game play was entertaining (if only for the fact it didn't waste time) and the story picked up after certain events (granted it took a long time to get there).
I played FF 1-12, Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, all of it, who cares, having played those games or not has nothing to do with enjoying FFXII, just more of my life spent playing games. FFXII was a good enough game for me to complete it, do all the extra content, and enjoy it, all I ask for really. People get way to END OF THE WORLD about this stuff I swear.
We should have gotten the international version of 12. I hate how the JP think Americans are too dumb to play a harder game. Hell, aren't almost all the new FF games dumbed down? I haven't felt challenged since 5 and 6.
All I know is I have played every single one except, 2?, and 12 was the worst fucking one.
For some reason, I think they will more than make up for it with 13. They seem to be putting a lot more work into it.
12 the worst one?
Get the fuck out of here, get back to the fighting game threads since that's apparently all you know.
No kidding
8 was obviously the worst
8 and 12 are like mirror images of each other. 8 was an awesome story with major gameplay issues, 12 was a so-so story with interesting gameplay. Yes the gameplay in 12 was interesting, tweaking your gambits and getting a great setup was awesome, it's no different than getting a perfect spellcast setup for 11 imo, only in 12 it's how SE actually wanted you to play the game. 8 was hampered by the fact that while the junction system could let you get some wtfoverpowered characters it was a gigantic pain in the ass to sit there and draw all the spells you needed from the enemies.
Also to re-rail this thread. Fuck Yeah Xenogears! I just started playing it again and damn this game is just about perfect.
Or you could do 12 the fun way... FUCK GAMBITS (I hardly used them at all (active mode, fast battle speed) and I enjoyed the game quite a bit)
8 and 2 was probably the worst FFs
6 and 4 are the best, Close to 9 and 5
