Billy has some haste shit... worth using but doesn't Citan get one as well? Been awhile since I played but I do believe he does.

Haste is useless on gear fight, and by endgame speed shoes gives auto haste anyway (assuming you killed hammer, which you did right?)

Though Billy does comes with Holy Pendant, which is nice if you totally missed on buying that and Ether Doubler since it's the only one you'd get, and that shit give 6 turn infinite mode.

But exploration in this game is waaay harder than it should be due to the shitty camera angle. I'm very disappointed that something like that has ruined this game for me, but it has.

The camera angles were fine. There were only a few areas where it was even remotely difficult to see what was going on, most of the time it was good. I haven't played it in awhile, but being able to spin the camera angle around felt really cool to me as well.

Camera angles were frustrating at times but that doesn't make the game unplayable. If anything I'd assume it would be dialog, "sorry-dorry" or "don't call me son cuz you sure ain't my pops"

I've finally gotten the chance to be able to start playing this in earnest, but yeah the camera annoys me too. I think it is mostly because of how I'm used to being able to control what I can see in the game that makes it more frustrating for me; however, it certainly doesn't make the game unplayable.

I remember first playing FFVII and having an area here or there where I couldn't quite see certain doorways/exits and the sort and Xenogears is really much of the same.

I guess I'm spoiled a bit by newer games that allow you to be able to see things better, but trust me when I say you shouldn't let the camera be something that holds you back. I'm not very far into the game, but the story already has me quite hooked so I'm glad I stuck with it.

Let's see, I haven't seriously tried to beat Xenogears since I was 13. I gave up all hope because (I thought) I was stuck in the last dungeon area in Deus, before you fight the orbs/deus. So I load my game last night and find a door that leads to a robot that can boot you outside or give you upgrades. I upgrade everyone and give it a shot, I know it says to leave Fei out of the orb fights but my party builds are so pathetic that they can barely take 1 damn thing down.
Also Billy does 0 damage on anything he fights, what exactly do you have to do with him to make him effective? It didn't help that I completely forgot that after Fei does 4 attacks his gets those infinite moves. Also equipped him with some item that recovers 500 fuel for every charge but it still isn't enough.
So you know what I gotta do next?

You can't even grind for that shit, gears don't benefit from exp, you don't need any spells or anything to beat Deus.

This is my first time picking up the game in 8 years, I don't remember shit dude. I know you probably know this game like the back of your hand but I don't. So please tell me what makes Deus so easy.

Well, if your gears are pretty much current on equips... you should be able to just run in there with your strongest gears, put on your boosters and wail on him and come out with a win.

Deus doesn't really do a lot of damage, also you don't HAVE to fight the 4 minibosses... in fact, I usually don't.
It's usually more of a drain on you to actually fight them than to just charge in and fuck Deus up.

btw, Xenogears goes into attack level infinity really easily so just do 3 normal attacks (no techs) and then watch the fireworks fly.

Not my own SS's but I figured out how to get the game running even better than those shots, a lot brighter and less washed out looking on the portraits. I love emulation.
