Trying to play through this on epsxe using ISOs that I ripped myself, but the game keeps crashing during one of the opening cutscenes. It's the first scene in which Weltall is fighting the generic gears. The music continues to play, but the rest of the game is locked and there's this annoyingly loud beeping. Any ideas what could be wrong? Bad ISO rip maybe? Need to change some plugin settings?
Ugh fuck using Elly, she is terrible. Her accuracy blows dick, I would honestly rather use Rico to break into the Goliath Factory. After just making him learn some deathblows now it's Elly's turn. I forgot how tedious this shit could get. If she can't fucking connect her combos how in the holy mother of fuck will she ever learn them?
Whenever you get to l3 deathblow, there is a % at the screen on whether or not you'd reach infinity next turn if you don't use up your deathblow levels.
tbh, it's kinda useless since you might end up better off just spamming l1 deathblow with high enough attack damage wise, but it is pretty cool
Pretty sure you can start using it on any omnigears
Ugh why can't you just learn combos in your gears, I seriously hate fighting on flat ground. Well once Citan gets a sword (post shevat?) it's amazing but damn I just cannot stand it right now.
lol, forgot alllllll about the card game. Can't even recall how long it took to win all of them. D:
I think someone, maybe Zilong, suggested that for emulator use to keep 2 different graphics plugins handy for situations like this so you can just alternate them when things start to go badly. Generally googling the game name and emulator for configurations turns up something useful as well as far as figuring out what works the most painlessly, but that can be a crap shoot.
Edit: nvm
I can't even the shaders to work (Shader Effects: missing custom file!). Anyone know how to fix this?
edit: nvm, think I got it
It was in the sense that it was released first and unless my memory is failing me right now, the game that started SRPG as a genre in the first place, and FFT was loosely based on it. FFT added an enormous amount of depth to the combat that Tactics Ogre never had though.
It's still a decent game today if you've got time to blow, but it's nothing spectacular if you've already played games that significantly improved on the formula, like FFT and FFTA2. Bahamut Lagoon is also pretty good.
As Kaelan stated, the differences in systemic playing are vast. After playing a newer SRPG, you will feel that Tactics Ogre lacks any semblance of control. You can dictate the class and general abilities of a unit, but you cannot efficiently dictate the actions of that unit.
Ok I just got back from a thread on another forum titled "Xenogears" that was flooded with Xenosaga for some reason. When I asked them to kindly stfu about the game and make another thread for it they started getting angry because I said I didn't like the game.
I gave it a fair chance, if an RPG or ANY game for that matter fails to catch my interest within a few hours, I stop playing it. I played Xenosaga for about over 10 hours and let me tell you it was some of the most boring hours of my life. I couldn't stand the repetitive combat system, looping space ship BGM, mediocre characters, etc.
I give valid reasons why I do not like the game and they still insist on saying I am being an elitist, not giving it a fair chance, and get this.. supposably it's "better than Xenogears", which I think is fucking blasphemy.
Please don't tell me any of you actually think Saga is better than Gears?
I loved Xenosaga 1, 2, 3. I still can't get myself to continue playing Xenogears, I keep trying, but it's no use. And uhh, as far as combat system goes, Xenosaga and Xenogears have virtually the same system.
They are basically the same. Just XS is a little more slow-paced.
It's... not even close to the same what are you guys smoking?
Especially not XS2, maybe you mean XS3 is close or something (I never actually could get myself to play that one after the shitfest that was XS2)
Xenosaga 1. 2 and 3 are nothing like Xenogears in terms of battle system.
Btw. I know it might be hard but you still should try to play XS3P It's a lot better than 2. What the series should start from, not end...
I don't remember the gear combat being anything like Xenogears (which was a huge chunk of the game) admittedly it has been ages since I played XS but were they really similar?
Ground combat was close enough but the boost/counter boost and a few other changes they made ended up giving combat a completely different feel.
