I've been having some trouble with my laptop. A while ago I had it suddenly crash, blue screen with a parity error. I couldn't get it to boot at all without the windows install disk, so I just tried a system recovery, which didn't fix anything. I then did a full reformat, which works for a little while until I start installing drivers. Everything works great until I get to my video card drivers. Once video card drivers are installed, the whole thing goes into a perpetual state of trying to reboot over and over without actually booting into windows. I've tried installing the drivers from the dell web site as well as the drivers from the nvidia website, both end in the same result, except the nvidia one wont crash until you reboot after installing all the drivers. After a fresh reformat everything looks fine except for these lines that I get on every screen, they run vertical in 2 different colors and alternate all the way across the screen. I'll try to take a picture and post later if I get a chance.
I've done multiple reformats and installed drivers, all with same result. Dell E1705, Nvidia GeForce Go 7900 256mb, Intel T5300 1.73 ghz 2MB cache, 2gb ram 667mhz, came with vista, only thing I've ever done with it was put windows xp pro on it and it ran like a champ for like a year before doing this. I've talked to Dell support, they told me it was a driver problem, and they basically told me to do what I've already done. I've also run memory tests and everything passed with flying colors. Any help or advice offered is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance BG.
