You can catch both in each version however, Kyogre can only be caught in Gold and Groudon in Silver. =)

I've been doing stuff like saving lots but I heard that after getting the 3rd badge the freezes become more frequent.

CycloDS for me. Shit comes out in two days anyway so I preordered it last week, should come on tuesday or so. I wanted the rom though so I can just use some cheats to get certain pokemon in random encounters lol.

Didn't think CycloDS would have any problems but oh well. Any word if connecting to another DS has a proper level balance unlike Pearl/Diamond did (which only worked on wifi and wii version)

Yeah CycloDS still not working well, it will just randomly freeze -_-. Waiting on a patch to come out I can't get the real game yet, I ordered it online so it should be here in a day or two. I even upgraded to the most recent beta firmware and it still freezes.

platinum had a ton of shit in it, but you could just trade with someone like me who doesn't cheat. I didn't catch everything in platinum, but I got pretty close. I quit when I got into the whole trying to chain shiny pokemon thing in the grass. Boy, that was frustrating.

If you really want to do it on your own, though, just go with platinum, and you can skip needing pearl or diamond.

I'm on my way to toys r us now, hope they still have the pokemon bundle things in stock.
