I'm on Claire now, just tried for first time and she kicked my butt. I gotta gain some levels my pokemon are only around 30~36 and hers are nearly 40. I gotta also ditch my pichu for a while( he won't evolve -.-) and get my Allakazham again (nice w/choice band!). Thunder don't do much vs dragons though.

Anyone know how the hell you win the bug catching contest? I'm trying to get a water stone for my staryu and a fire for my growlithe and I always get 2nd place -_-. I caught a damn Scyther and got 2nd place and the winner was some guy with a damn Kakuna!? lol what is the requirement to win, I was thinking level based.

Edit: I also seem to have gotten Pokerus o.O what does this do again? I am not familiar with EV training I just play for the PVE aspect basically, don't care much for competitive battling (too much min/maxing). All my pokemon effected by it lol.

Since I see people talking about Claire a lot after you beat her and go into dragon's den to talk to the master be sure to exit out after passing his exam and zoning back in to talk to get a dratini with extremespeed.

If you're using Choice Band on Alla, you're doing it wrong :3

Choice Band 1.5x bonus to Attack
Choice Specs 1.5x bonus to Special Attack
Choice Scarf 1.5x bonus to Speed

I had my GF trade over a pikachu from a diamond game she bought used a few weeks ago. She even sent it over holding a thunder stone for me <3.

2 hours of leveling it to 40 and it really didn't do shit against Clair lol. Ended up beating it basically with Feraligator and Gyarados with Ice bites and shit. Used Charizard to work in some dragon claws before I got hydro pumped. That fucking Kingdra thing is a bitch.

Pokerus is pokemon aids virus. A pokemon in your party is only contagious for 24 hours so after obtaining AIDS, you will want to spread it to some pokemon that you have in storage. To do this, place them in your party and go out and do a couple of random battles with infected pokemon. AIDS will spread after a battle or two usually, then you can store pokemon to give yourself the virus later on.

What it does : It doubles your EVs obtained after each battle. After 24 hours of being in your party, the purple PKRS will disappear and a little smiley face thing shows up putting your pokemon in "cured" status, but the double EV thing will always be in effect. This just simply means you're no longer contagious.

Pokerus is more rare than shinies, so consider yourself lucky for randomly getting it. I got my aids from Kuno.

I've been breeding charmanders all night for a shiny. So far no luck.

Will be worth it though

You can get a shiny pichu by getting your girlfriend's diamond copy and receiving gift from Nintendo WIFI. I think the event is still going. It also unlocks spiky eared pichu in gold/silver.

You realize her dragons take 0.5 from electric dmg? Pikachu definitely not doing much to them. She should have sent him over with a light ball though

I traded some PKRS Pokemon over from my Pearl to Platinum and kept them stored in the PC. It seems now that they all just have the symbol next to their picture that means they've recovered. =/

I tried breeding Charmanders a bit for shiny before soft resetting in front of the pokeballs in Fire Red. It takes a while, but better than breeding imo. It took me a day or two.

Lapras wrecks Kingdra if you have access to one (You can catch one in Union Cave on Fridays). Good move set would be....

Lapras~ Water Absorb
Modest Nature is preferred
Ice Beam
Surf
Thunderbolt
Sing/Roar/Protect/Toxic

Pre-elite four, I don't worry about EVs that much, but if you are one who does, I'd do something like....

EVs: 192 HP / 112 Defense / 160 Special Attack / 44 Special Defense

Sorry, could you explain this to me in a little more detail? I saw the gift thing at one of the startup screens and was kind of confused. How do you go about that?

Select Mystery Gift > Receive from Wi-Fi and if the event is still ongoing (I think it is in the US) then it will download a shiny Pichu which activates the Notch-Eared Pichu event in Ilex Forest in HG/SS.

So just start up Diamond version > Main Menu > Mystery Gift > Receive gift from Wi-Fi and it will download to the game. In game you go to a Pokemart talk to the delivery guy as soon as you go in and he will give you the Pokemon.
Then you can trade it over to the HG/SS versions then.

*Edit- The event must be over if it found no gifts, sorry.
