I have a problem with the walker or the game

First i have the first gen of DS so the big one

2) i tried sending a Caterpie, so i put it in the box, run the connect to pokewalker choose my caterpie, then it says put the pokewalker near the DS card and press the middle button and wait 5sec which i do

So the pokewalker does the sign it's trying to transmit but 2 sec after the face in the pokewalker does a sign like it can't connect.

I tried different position (nothing between and all)

Any tips?

Lay it on a flat surface with them relatively close to each other and don't touch either item after you hit connect.

This goes back to what a couple of us mentioned earlier, the walker is finicky as hell and even a tiny bump can interfere with it connecting properly.

Hmm, Not sure how you guys are having so much problems with the thing, are you sure the IR sensor isnt blocked, I usually have my walker where I can see it at the edge and hit connect when the DS is asking me to

Oh, I honestly don't have any issues anymore now that I just set it on a flat surface. I think my problems originally stemmed from me holding each item in one hand and not being able to hold both perfectly still.

I'm exaggerating how bad it is, obviously. Just keep it on a flat surface and no one should ever have any issues with it.

Total steps is something like 70,000, I'm 100 watts away from the Town Outskirts. Keep forgetting to throw the damn thing in my pocket whenever I'm going places that involve walking.

If your in car or in subway does it count like walking?

Exemple i connect my poke to the DS then take a 30min car ride, when i start walking after the ride will it work or will i need to reconnect it?

Sometimes, but it doesn't always register as much. I think Setsuko posted something about measuring hers after a car ride and it registered something like 400 steps, I personally sat it on my dashboard once just to see how many it picked up, and I got like 300 steps from a 25 minute drive.

It'll work. The only time you need to reconnect to the DS is to transfer over items/pokemon or change routes/pokemon.

Kinda seems like it sucks the fun out of the game when you Pokesav everything. When you go as far to pokesav one pokemon then why not pokesav them all, then the TMs and moves and get all the pokemon. Seems like it would make the game boring, but everyone has their own way of playing.

Yeah, it's WiFi. There's also a route that unlocks from doing an international trade on the GTS and four more from events that haven't released yet.

Given the progression of the events overseas though, we should get 10th anniversary Mew after the Yellow Forest, then the Enigma stone, and then the Champ's Path pokewalker route. The only events that Nintendo hasn't made any mention of yet are Celebi and the Amity Meadow, Sightseeing and Rally pokewalker courses.

It really depends on what you're doing to me. Certain TMs aren't reobtainable (unless this changed in platinum/hgss) without playing the game again and if you make a mistake or wanted to make more than just "one team" then I don't see the issue. Weither you want to limit yourself to only doing TMs with it or everything is up to the person and the way they play. Which was one of the reasons why I like Shoddy for practice team making even though the issue of TMs is still there because several of my teams have certain ones like Stealth Rock or U-Turn etc. which were only obtainable once (during Diamond/Pearl era anyway)

Does i mean i can put 1 of my pokemon and catch 2? or can i unlock the spaces with badges or something?

Well... I am looking around at Stealth Rock, the most commonly used move in lead pokémon, and all I can find is that the only way to get it is from orebourgh gym and can't be obtained from breeding/tutoring either.

Yeah you could only get one prior to HG/SS, but now you can get them in the Celadon Department Store in HG/SS. For the low low price of 2000p too. =D
