Yes. Gold/Silver was by far the best title in the entire series and I'm sure almost all of the 151 originals are in Gold/Silver as well.

The only thing you might need to get used to is the new types introduced with Gold/Silver which are Dark/Steel but honestly it's nothing challenging.

Minus legends, but yeah. It should be everyone minus the birds + Mewtwo. It's pretty much this:

New areas, gyms, pokemon like every other game. Except the world is actually connected to the RBY world. So after you beat the firs t8 gyms, you can beat the 8 gyms in RBY (with obviously higher level Pokemon) and the original elite 4 minus Agetha.

They put some of the new Pokemon in the RBY remakes, so expect to be able to catch some extra stuff after the Elite 4 or in whatever new area they add.

I wonder what kind of special Pokemon this version might have. FR/LG had some GSC Pokemon, since there was no way to get them from GB to GBA games at that point. Other than a WiFi-connection Celebi unlock, I can't think of any special legends they might want to make available in these titles. All of the Legends are catchable at this point, either in D/P/Pt or FR/LG/Emerald.

Do you even remember half of the 100 pokemon they added that gen? I certainly don't. Including Kanto was pretty cool but with the space restrictions of a GB cart that meant that Johto was the smallest region ever, and Kanto was half inaccessible with almost no nonessential NPCs.

You're right on terms of the actual pokemon themselves. The original 151 can never be forgotten but I'm also pretty sure when I was a kid playing Gold/Silver I could tell you all the new pokemon they added but I've forgotten a lot of their names.

As far as Gold/Silver goes it still retains its own nostalgia factor that was lost when Ruby/Sapph came out, granted not as much as Red/Blue but each game to its own. There were so many positive changes with G/S that in my opinion it still stands as the best game for me, but everyone has their own opinion. : p
