It's supposedly impossible to get Shiny Mystery Gift pokemon in Gen IV (that aren't supposed to be shiny like Shiny Pichu) due to the way they are generated. If a shiny PID is generated it purposely tells it to re-roll for a new PID until it finds one that isn't shiny. Sucks pretty hard. =/ So, if you see an event poke that's shiny you know someones BSing.

Edit: Unless I'm misunderstanding and you mean soft-resetting the one ingame that you get from having the Member's Card. That one you can soft-reset for a shiny I believe. Was thinking you meant the TRU Alamos/Eigakan Darkrai.

If you mean Wi-Fi as in battling and trading poke ingame with people then what you want to do is go to key items > pal pad and get your own friend code from it. If you've never entered the Wi-Fi area you'll have to do that once before you can get your code. Should be a 12 digit code like this XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. When someone gives you their friend code open up the Pal Pad and "Register Friend Code" then you can do stuff with them in the Wi-Fi room (idr exact name its bottom floor of poke center in D/P/Pt).

Meh I am just messing around lol. I do use pokesav sometimes tbh... I find it EXTREMELY tedious to have to catch the same pokemon over and over ( or hatch) just go get a damn good ability + nature combo -_-.

Pokesav is extremely useful, I just can't take advantage of it at the moment because I only have 1 DS with me. It takes a ridiculous long time to breed the perfect Pokemon even then it only really matters if you're into competitive battling. Being able to select the nature, EV, moveset etc in seconds isn't headache inducing as the long 'legit' way.

I'd only consider this cheating if you did from the start of the game and went through it all with Pokesav'd PKMN, where's the challenge in that?

Ya I agree. You get the same results only difference is a matter of time, I could spam catching a pokemon OVER and over or hatching over and over, or just use pokesav but both have same outcome just time wise pokesav is faster.

Kinda defeats the purpose of actually playing, doesn't it? Don't get me wrong, it's not really my business how others choose to play the game, I'm just saying that the battle system isn't exactly deep (though it has improved with 3rd and 4th generation) and if you don't find breeding/catching pokemons fun or don't get any sort of satisfaction from breeding a "perfect" Pokemon then you might as well just input values in an excel sheet and get the same experience.

WEP only for DS unless you're using DSi.

I have a similar problem, it usually takes me like 3 tries to get onto wifi due to this because I think it cycles through your connections until it finds one that works. It doesn't help that I'm playing the rom so the wifi shit is all in japanese so I can't set it up properly.

Well it is different for everyone but I don't find min/maxing very fun imo. I do like catching the pokemon and battling but I don't like having to catch or hatch the same pokemon over and over and over so I can min/max shit out. I would rather have the combo of ability + nature that I want for the pokemon and have fun with them battling.

I kinda like breeding. I do try to get "perfect" IVs, but I usually settle for 29-31 in few key stats (such as Attack and Speed) even if the rest of the IVs are crap. Getting decent IVs in everything is annoying because of the way IVs are passed down; the baby always inherits some of the parents IVs, so without parents that have good IVs in several stats you can't get a perfect Pokemon without breeding multiple generations (in-breeding lawl), and to complicate matters even more, if you want specific egg moves that adds another several generations of breeding.
But when you finally do get a Pokemon with decent IVs, right egg moves and nature, it is pretty satisfying.

Personally, I've played so many pokemon games SO MUCH at this point that I'm in no rush at all to finish gold. I'll take my time breeding the pokemon I want for my party before continuing on b/c I never tried to get the right natures and stuff in the past.

Not everyone is going to have the same views. I don't really care if someone cheats as long as they're not a dick about it.
