Done with Kanto now, pretty much. Little over 40 hours played. I just climbed Mt. Silver to see what level Red's Pokemons were... fucking 80-88... that shit is insane. I mean, my highest level Pokemon is 57, after fighting pretty much every trainer in both Kanto and Johto (excluding few special fights, I haven't gone back to Dragon's Den for example yet).
I seem to be having problems connecting to you all of a sudden. Although this seems to be an issue that Gentai and I as well as a couple other people have been having for the last couple days in WiFi. Try exiting the WiFi room and re-entering, it usually clears up if both parties do.
Bah, I'm an idiot. Should've Baton Passed to Magnezone with my 6x speed boost from Ninjask, but I was too excited by 3 Sword Dances and wanted to 'make the most of it'. Was also worried about you switching him out of my free kill, but then remembered afterwards I have Magnet Pull...
Edit: Nice match, wasn't sure if I could drag it out long enough for the Destiny Bond draw =P
Yeah, I was pretty sure I was boned for the rest of the match when you Magnet Pulled Scizor while he was locked into Bullet Punch. Good match overall, but you could've taken the win easily, 'Zard only had 76 HP and Gengar is hella faster than him.
I shouldn't have let Ninjask set up like that either, but I got excited by the opportunity to setup Charizard. I should've just spammed Bullet Punch with Metagross and shattered substitutes to prevent the dances.
Oh, I know. I could've killed Emp and Zard with Thunderbolt on Gengar easily, I was just gunning for the draw for the hell of it. And honestly, I'm surprised by how many people let me set up Ninjask the second time. I don't get to do too much with him the first time I play against someone new because they're still a little leery, but the second time they sort of write him off as not being too effective. Another friend I swept his entire team in a baton pass 3 Sword Dance, 4 speed boost Garchomp Outrage.
And that's the downfall on Ninjask, no one gives me a chance to setup on the third time. I really need to get a rapid spinner on my team. Hardly play against anyone that uses Stealth Rock/Spikes, but when they do it's pretty deadly. Was thinking of making a Stealth Rock or Spikes Skarmory to use myself, still haven't gotten around to it.
What was your move set on Empoleon? Grass Knot, Surf, and ???. Torrent is a bitch, still nearly OHKO'd my Abomasnow with Surf.
As soon as you see a Ninjask you send in the phazer. If you don't have a phazer then you need to get one.
Agility. Didn't get the chance to use it though, I figured Empoleon was gonna take a pretty heavy hit on that turn, so I had to just go with Grass Knot, hope the hit didn't kill me, and rape with Torrent + Petaya Berry.
That's the only thing with Empoleon, needs Agility to outspeed stuff and has an amazingly shallow move pool.
I still can't decide on Tentacruel vs. Rhyperior, I really need the rapid spin in case someone whips out Stealth Rock, lest it completely destroy Charizard, but I haaaaate Tentacruel. Spikes are good, I'd personally use them if it weren't for their limited availability on pokemon vs. Stealth Rock.
I have a lot of comments I could make on Stealth Rock being retarded, unbalanced and so on and so forth, but that's another topic. Besides, it keeps sweepers like Gyarados in check.
Actually, come to think of it you might have won if you did use Agility. That would've let you outspeed both Gengar and Starmie, which you could OHKO pretty easily. Just depends if you could've done it fast enough to live through the snow storm tick damage eating away at you.
Yeah, I couldn't remember how fast Starmie was off the top of my head, but you're probably right. Although it probably wouldn't have mattered, since Empoleon died to a hail tick right after dropping Abomasnow. If I had managed to get it in in a position where I could've set it up at 25% HP instead of closer to 15%, it would've worked.
Damn, the GTS really is a mess. First of all, for some reason the GTS displays only three candidates available for trade (even though sometimes it displays five, for some reason) for the specific Pokemon you are looking for. This means that usually the first three are retards asking for Celebi, Darkai, Mew etc. so you gotta narrow your search. The best way to do this is search by location.
Even when I was doing this, and searching pretty common, breedable Pokemons (Geodude, Machop, Caterpie, Porygon, Abra) I kept running to trades asking for either legendarys or something equally insane (Level 60 or up Growlithe, wtf?). And I was only looking for level 1-10 Pokemons, since the system doesn't let you look for level 1 Pokemons specifically. So yeah, if you want to trade ANYTHING on GTS prepare to go through hundreds and hundreds of searches.![]()
I think the general consensus is that the GTS is a piece of shit.
It could have used a "Search for what people want" feature. So many times I needed like.. a phamphy or pineco when filling my dex cause I didn't have them. I go and search and they needed level 100 mews or milotics or god knows what else. I would have murdered for the option to search for people needing lvl 40 or less for the trade etc.
Yeah, I agree that it's lacking a lot of features, but really all the problems would be solved if they just banned legendarys from GTS. Sure, it would piss some people off, but you aren't gonna trade legit legendarys blindly anyway, so only cheaters would suffer from it.
Like I said before, I'm actually trying to complete Pokedex with only traded Pokemons, so I'm using GTS alot. I would just post on Serebii and trade with people there, but Serebii forums are so damn slow (because of all the traffic I assume). I will trade with everybody who posts in this thread at some point, but I'd prefer it if every Pokemon had different OT. If I trade with just you guys, I'll probably have about five different OTs for few hundred Pokemons :D
