Thanks. I've been there. I tried hatching shiny Charmander back in Pearl WITHOUT Masuda method... I think I quit around 500-600 eggs. :D

And yeah, the tournament rules are pretty stupid. With Wobbuffet, everyone having uber teams and probably a good amount of people having wall teams, those matches are gonna take forever. Not to mention Double Team spamming etc.

now i play purely solo, but: is dragonite still a beast? I'm leveling dragonair atm and he's sooooo weak and inaccurate. Is he still worth it later on? Also where is ice beam obtained at?

If you mean where is TM13 which teaches Ice Beam, one can be found from Route 216 in DPPt, and from Sea Foam Island in HGSS. Alternatively, you can buy them from Game Corners in every game, but they will cost coins.
And yeah, if you are not gonna do Battle Tower / Frontier, or play against other people, Dragonite is good. Only reason it's not popular anymore is because Salamence and Garchomp are better Dragon-types than Dragonite.

I'm gonna rant about something again, so feel free to skip this part if my rants bore you. :D I was checking up Smogon's forums, and I noticed that the whole Wi-Fi subsection was filled with trading threads. I decided to check them out, which was a mistake. These people are completely fucking batshit insane. Here's a checklist of things pretty much 99% of these "traders" do:
    - Use ActionReplay codes to instantly hatch eggs
    - Use PokeSav to "check for hacks" when they trade
    - Use illegal copies of Platinum/HGSS for "RNG purposes"
    - RNG shinys, perfect IVs etc
    - Clone Pokemons, both their own and the ones they trade
And the list goes on... this would be all well and fine, as long as they are open about it, right? Well, no, because according to these people, THEY DO NOT WANT HACKED POKEMONS. Which means, that they actually think, that using AR codes, cloning, RNG and all that shit produces LEGIT POKEMONS and that they want nothing to do with hacks. I mean, I'm not completely alone here, right? This is insane, that I even have to explain that using ActionReplay (cheating device), manipulating RNG and cloning is cheating and that you are, in fact, creating hacks, no matter how you look at it. Sure, you can claim that they are legit because they are created by the game, but you are just bullshitting to make yourself feel better about cheating.
I get that breeding takes time, and getting shinys either requires a lot of luck (breeding) or a lot of patience (PokeRadar) but if you have neither and you just decide to cheat, then you are making all the effort pointless.

Even competitively he is pretty good still even though Salamence is technically overall better (and Garchomp.............). The weakness to ice moves is still there of course and if EV'd can be beastly with the proper teammates to counter his weaknesses

Oh god, Wobuffet and the usage of Double Team allowed. These tournaments would be fun to watch though, if for no reason other than watching some ass Baton Pass swords dance and double team using Ninjask to something with spore or a high accuracy sleep inducing move and watching them rape an entire team of slept pokemon.

Sorry for the double post, but yeah, Dragonite's usage has mainly fallen because of Salamence and Garchomp, both having much more flexible movepools, and Garchomp having vastly superior typing.

Dragonite is still a bruiser, but a lot of teams will be packing some sort of counter or a Boltbeam combo, which shuts Dragonite down pretty fast.

Oh gosh I just discovered my new training ground in HGSS. Since there is no VS seeker I thought it might be hard finding a good 60+ training ground, but then I discovered that the time slot rematches for the gym leaders mean that they can be rebattled as many times as you want until their time slot goes away. I've been spamming Jenine for an hour now and I've went from 60-63 for my whole team (non-traded). Not to mention the AMAZING money had too. Elite 4 was pretty good, but it was too costly with all the items necessary and at 60, it's still a little tough with the Version 2 Elite 4. WOO!

Cool, that's good to know. I didn't even remember you could have rematches with the Gym Leaders, I've been training at Mt. Silver.

I just noticed today that all my shinys are female. :D I named the shiny Larvitar Calamity. There are two reasons for that; one, it's a badass name for a Tyranitar, and two, the irony of it is crushing. I'll probably train her at some point, it will be cool to use her in a WiFi battle. The opponent will see a shiny Tyranitar named Calamity come out and go "oh shit", and then when it turns out it can't OHKO shit because it has Modest nature and crappy IVs they'll probably just start laughing so hard they'll disconnect. Or at least that's what I'm hoping. :D

Doesn't hit ghosts like Gengar though right?

    Pain Split is nice too

Edit: Speaking of those two, Gengar has Pain Split now woo worth testing to see how it'll do against Blissey overall

He was referring to the fact that any Machamp worth it's salt will be carrying something like Payback or a similar move. Gengar isn't really an issue, nor are the other ghosts, because if you set Machamp up right he'll always OHKO or 2HKO them at worst with Payback.

:O JOEY. I wished I had believed him all this time. I was too busy kicking his raticate's butt and listening to him complain about how he was out of usable pokemon.

I already own SS, Which would be most effective in the long run game wise:

    1. Buy Heart Gold
    2. Buy Platinum and Fire Red

I'm not sure what you mean by "most effective in the long run". Are you talking about what Pokemons you can catch in the games, or what? I see very little point in buying HeartGold if you already have SoulSilver, they are the same game with a few exclusive Pokemons in each. If you don't have Diamond or Pearl, I'd suggest Platinum; it has lot of fun features HGSS doesn't; super contests, PokeRadar, VS Seeker and Sinnoh Underground, to name a few.
FireRed is pretty "useless" at this point, since you have SoulSilver. You can get first gen starters, Mewtwo, Legendary birds etc. in SoulSilver.
